The Oscars is that event of the year whose shadow is always bigger than itself. The controversies are always larger — be it around Harvey Weinstein or this year’s Oscar having no host at all. Apparently, no one wanted to host it after Kevin Hart relinquished the role after coming under fire for his old and allegedly homophobic tweets.
No one probably wanted their old tweets to get closely scrutinised now.
But here, we are keeping it simple with the five things that stood out at this year's Oscars anyhow:
1.). That rubber band!
Yes, yes. We know it’s called a scrunchie — but to us Indians, it’s a rubber band which just got a foreign degree. Why do we put it around our wrist? Because that’s the only place from where it has the least chance of getting lost. No one other than Jason Momoa understands this third world problem — and represented it in a first world way.
2.). ‘Not because I am on my period’
Period. End of Sentence., a Netflix documentary set in India won the Best Documentary Short. “I’m not crying because I’m on my period or anything,” said Rayka Zahtabchi, the Indian-American director of the film. “I can’t believe a film about menstruation won an Oscar”.
True. We can't either.
The documentary is set in Hapur, 60 km away from Delhi, where old women think menstrual blood is 'impure' and young men think menstruation is a disease.
3.). Man in pink and gown
Pink was the ruling colour of the Red Carpet.
Seeing men wearing soft pink (scroll up to see Jason Momoa) was heartwarming. Billy Porter came dressed in a tuxedo gown.
4.). When we found this
We took the help of social media to decode this — then it was confirmed that, yes, the Oscars stage actually looked like Donald Trump's hair.
We don't know whether this got Donald Trump (Jr) angry or not.
I’ll save you guys the trouble & summarize the #Oscars so you don’t have to watch.Trump: bad, despite booming economy & lowest black/Hispanic unemployment ever. Walls: Immoral, except outside our houses.Socialism: Pay no attention to mayhem in Venezuela, let’s give it a try

5.). And, Accessory goals
