After losing the first One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand and the second one getting washed out due to rain, Team India would look to level the 3-match series by winning the third and final game on Wednesday (November 30).
Shikhar Dhawan's team has a young bowling attack that has pacers like Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya and Deepak Chahar. The team also has the sixth bowling option in allrounder Deepak Hooda.
On the other hand, Kane Williamson's side has in-form Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Philips who strengthen the batting department. Though Trent Boult, is not in the side, Lockie Fergusson has been a good replacement. Plus, the likes of Tim Southee, Matt Henry, Mitchell Santner and Adam Milne deepen the bowling attack.
The head-to-head between India and New Zealand: India and New Zealand have squared off against each other in 112 ODI games so far. Out of these, 55 games have been won by India, while New Zealand have won 50. 6 matches ended with no result while 1 was a tie.
But the Kiwis have a good record at home against India as they have won 26 games at home. As a captain, Kane Williamson also has a decent record in ODIs. He has played 81 games as captain, out of which, he has won 41 and lost 38. His win percentage is 50.61%.
As for Shikhar Dhawan, he has captained India in 10 ODI matches, out of which, he has won six and lost three. One match ended without a result.
WIll rain play a spoilsport? Since the second match was a washed out because of rain, there ae chances that the third ODI might also be affected by rain.
As per the recent weather update, heavy rain is predicted in Christchurch on Wednesday, November 30 at the Hagley Oval Park in New Zealand.
According to AccuWeather, it will be mostly cloudy, breezy and cooler with a little rain in the afternoon of November 30 in Christchurch.
Players to watch out from the Indian side:
From the batting department, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan will be key as all of them except Yadav had scored half-centuries in the first ODI.
Deepak Hooda, if he plays instead of Sanju Samson, will be an additional finisher other than Hardik Pandya.
Will Sanju Samson play? Though Samson got the chance in the first ODI, it is doubtful whether he will play in the third ODI as the team will have to then drop Deepak Hooda, who if plays, will be the sixth bowling option.
Samson played a good cameo in the first ODI scoring 36 off 38 balls. However, he was dropped in the second game.
Thereby, the team can go with Deepak Hooda in place of Samson. Else, Samson can be included in place of Rishabh Pant in the team who has had a inconsistent form in the last few matches.
It will be interesting to see if Rishabh Pant plays in the third ODI or not.
The match will broadcast LIVE in India at 7 am Tuesday on DD Sports and it will also be streamed online on Amazon Prime.
