For a country whose current FIFA ranking is 106, it is monumental for an Indian actress to unveil the prized World Cup Trophy at yesterday's final in Qatar. Deepika Padukone was not just representing India; she was also present at the ceremony as a brand ambassador of Louis Vuitton, a role that she has embraced since May 2022.
So, it only baffled Indian spectators further that despite having the French high-fashion brand’s backing, Padukone seemed to be wearing an outfit that has been drawing mostly polarising responses (most of them being in the negative).

Donning what seemed like a leathery half-jacket with multiple zippers, the Twitterati is trolling the actress for “wearing a bag”!
Instagram’s Indian fashion watchdog Diet Sabya was also quick to post a story that read, “LV really did her dirty”, followed by another one saying, “Y’all can’t say I’m being mean cause there’s simply no justification for this look. None!”
Others are suggesting that the actress’s Qatar wardrobe was picked by her husband Ranveer Singh. The latter, on the other hand, was surprisingly dressed more modestly than his usual outlandish looks, sporting a classic red Adidas 3-stripe jacket (perhaps for ~balance~).
Talking about dressing modestly, Padukone was thankfully covered enough to not spark another outfit-related outrage like the one burning around her “saffron” dress in Pathaan’s Besharam Rang!

Apart from the Pathaan actress cosplaying as an LV bag, her Pathaan co-star Shah Rukh Khan cooked up an equal dose of randomness as he chatted up with former English footballer Wayne Rooney in a pre-match show. Struggling to start small talk, Rooney casually asked SRK about his role in the upcoming January release.
And then in the most dramatic fashion, Khan compared Pathaan to Rooney.
This praise for Rooney was soon followed by the footballer striking a “DDLJ pose” with Khan, making for a somewhat wholesome yet awkward moment.
The Pathaan cast weren’t the only Indians at the final, with Nora Fatehi performing the blandly unmemorable FIFA song Light The Sky at the closing ceremony.
I just saw Nora Fatehi was the singer at Fifa closing ceremony

😭 Why god why, first Deepika in her gunny bag and then Nora's torture 😭https://t.co/P3Hkfxd4SN
Meanwhile in the stands, Ranveer Singh also couldn’t resist being himself as he proceeded to give a cheek kiss to Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri, who was also there for some reason. Shastri’s tweet on the whole scene aptly sums up the Indian “delegation” at FIFA: “I don’t know what to say.”
