Having played Wonder Woman for nine years over the span of five movies in the DCEU, it seems Gal Gadot might be hanging up her lasso and shield for good.
The problem of fitting in: Having written and directed the previous two films in the franchise, Jenkins's draft for the third planned film reportedly did not fit in in the larger expanding mythos of the new DCEU blueprint under new management.

The American filmmaker James Gunn, best known for his work on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as British film producer Peter Safran, serve as the newly appointed creative heads at DC Studios. The duo have spent the short time elected by WarnerBrosDiscovery CEO David Zaslav devising the blueprint for the future of the DC Extended Universe.

...and then, a tweet from Gal Gadot: Wonder Woman herself, the Israeli actress Gal Gadot got caught up in some unfortunate timing before having her parade rained on by the news, tweeting about how she “Can’t wait to share her [Wonder Woman’s] next chapter with you.”
A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman.I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU.The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you🙅🏻♀️🙌🏼💃🏻♥️ pic.twitter.com/XlzhrMx4xe

The future of DCEU: The future of a great many projects remain in limbo under the Gunn-Safran helmed DCEU, including Henry Cavill’s much-anticipated return as Superman in Man of Steel 2, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, as well as as the sequel to this year’s Dwayne Johnson-led Black Adam.
With The Flash and Shazam: Fury of the Gods slated for 2023 releases as of now, the DCEU’s trajectory is still riddled with uncertainty. Although, given how the last installment in the Wonder Woman franchise, Wonder Woman 84, was extraordinarily bad, the cancelling of any future projects with the character comes as no surprise.
