Fresh from the Critics Choice Awards wins, SS Rajamouli is currently enjoying the resounding success of RRR, having already won a Golden Globe Award earlier this month. Here's a quick look at all of whom he thanked in his acceptance speech.
According to the director, he has had a number of women in his life who have played important roles in shaping him into the filmmaker he is today, including his mother, wife, sister-in-law and daughter.
Rajamouli’s mother, Rajanandini, was a strong influence on Rajamouli from a young age. She instilled in him a love for reading and storytelling, and encouraged his imagination and creativity. Her support and encouragement helped Rajamouli have helped him down the path of success, evidently.
SS Rajamouli's wife, Rama, has also been an important collaborator, working with Rajamouli on many of his films in various capacities, including as a costume designer and producer. Rama comes from a family of esteemed film personalities. She is Sreevali’s (Rajamouli’s sister-in-law and RRR music director MM Keeravani’s wife) younger sister.
Rajamouli also thanked Rama’s older sister and his sister-in-law Sreevali, who has played an equally vital role outside of work; being a constant source of support and encouragement, and has helped him navigate the challenges and pressures of the film industry.
Lastly, Rajamouli's daughter, Mayookha, has been an inspiration for him as well whose “smile is enough” to light up his life. Mayookha had made a small cameo in the film Baahubali, when she had appeared among many professional dancers in the song, Sahore.
Rajamouli topped it all off by thanking his motherland,
Here’s hoping the director will have a repeat of the same a couple months from now at the Academy Awards ceremony.
