Trevor Noah is coming to India, but the ticket prices look unbelievable

Popular stand-up comedian and former host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central, Trevor Noah is set to perform in India this September, but the ticket prices are all likely to dial down a few laughs.

Trevor Noah, the renowned comedian, is poised to mark his first-ever appearance in India during the eagerly-awaited 'Off The Record Tour' scheduled for September this year. He has shows lined up in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru from September 22 to October 1.

Fans in India are eagerly looking forward to the performances of the former Daily Show host who has made several references to the country during his prior skits and in effect, garnered quite a popularity for himself among Indians. 

However, the fact that is making the most of the headlines are the sky-high ticket prices for the show.

What are the prices?

While fans have shown widespread excitement ever since Noah announced that he will be holding a show in India, the prices have surely wiped the smiles of many. 

According to BookMyShow, the cost of tickets for the events are:

• Delhi and Bengaluru: starting from Rs 3,000 to Rs 12,500. 
• Mumbai: starting from Rs 2,000 to Rs 12,500.

The prices are evidently high for the Indian audience, in spite of all the admiration for the comedian in the country. 

Are his shows really that expensive? 

Trevor Noah’s show in India is part of his 'Off The Record' tour. Apart from India, Noah will also be travelling to Dubai for another show. 

Noah’s show prices are generally on the higher end of the price scale but to Indian audiences, that is a lot for a stand-up show. 

In comparison, the price for a ticket to Trevor Noah’s US tour is pretty much the same as that in India. Here are some of the prices of his US tour shows according to Vivid Seats:

• Richmond, VA show - from $112 to $1000  (Rs 9,277.24 to Rs 82,840.90)
• New York show - $86 to $1,514 (Rs 7,124.32 to Rs 1,25,425.66)
• Phoenix, AZ show - $48 to $1824 (Rs 3,976.51 to Rs 1,51,107.27)

Internet reaction

All the love for Noah notwithstanding, the Indian audience is slamming the skyhigh prices.

It is yet to see what sort of welcome Noah receives from the Indian audience and whether they actually accept the high price of the tickets.
