Actors Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello have announced their divorce after seven years of marriage. The couple made the official announcement on Monday, July 17. Their marriage began in November 2015 with an extravagant ceremony in Palm Beach.
In a statement provided to PageSix, the ex-couple said, "We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people who deeply love and care for one another, we kindly request respect for our privacy during this transitional period in our lives."
Currently, Sofia Vergara is enjoying a birthday trip in Italy, celebrating her 51st birthday on July 10.
She has been sharing pictures of her time in Italy with friends, noticeably without Joe Manganiello or her wedding ring, indicating that their relationship has come to an end.
The news of their divorce does not come as a surprise, as sources close to the couple have revealed that they have been growing apart for some time. They are now taking some time apart to reflect on their future.
Another source close to Sofia Vergara shared with PEOPLE magazine, "They have been growing apart for some time now and have tried to work things out, but their priorities and life paths have diverged."
While still maintaining love and respect for each other, their initial passion has waned. Additionally, the couple faced challenges due to differences in how they wanted to live their lives.
On Sofia's 51st birthday, Joe Manganiello, 46, shared a simple and emotionless Instagram post that read, "Feliz Cumpleaños Sofia!!!"
The last public appearance of Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello together was in June in Hoboken, New Jersey, when Vergara visited Manganiello on the set of his new movie "Nonnas" alongside Vince Vaughn.
The former couple began dating in 2014 after being introduced by the actress' former co-star, Ferguson, at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. At the time, Vergara was engaged to businessman Nick Loeb but ended the engagement shortly after meeting Manganiello. Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello got engaged in December 2014.
Their wedding ceremony took place in November 2015 in Palm Beach, attended by 400 guests, including Vergara's "Modern Family" co-stars and Manganiello's "True Blood" colleagues, as well as other notable actors such as Reese Witherspoon and Channing Tatum.
