SS Rajamouli's iconic blockbuster RRR has been doing the rounds at the awards circuit, bagging two Critics Choice awards most recently, after last week's big Golden Globes win. Things are certainly looking good for RRR's chances at Oscars 2023.
The Critics' Choice Movie Awards are presented annually by the American-Canadian Critics Choice Association to honour the finest in cinematic achievement. The 28th annual Critics Choice Awards came to a close in the early hours of this morning with Everything Everywhere All At Once (read our review of Everything Everywhere All At Once here) coming out as the biggest winner of this year’s ceremony, securing five wins across different categories.
However, the Telugu epic picked up Critics Choice award for Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu.

The most recent Hollywood stalwart that has declared himself an RRR aficionado is none other than director James Cameron himself.

The surmounting industry backing only strengthens RRR’s chances at that sought-after Oscar win a few months from now. With multiple wins to its name, the future looks good for the film’s chances at the Academy Awards.

But exactly what are RRR's chances at the Oscars this year? According to our analysis of this year’s awards race, though RRR getting in for Best Picture would make history, the chances for that happening are really quite slim. However, given its recent wins at the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Awards, the multiple regional film critics circles wins, as well as Hollywood’s steady preoccupation with the film, we do believe that RRR’s chances at securing at least a single Oscar win have been considerably strengthened.
