After a day full of mixed response by the audience, Farhan Akhtar has now added fuel to the already lit fire by releasing a teaser for Don 3 featuring Ranveer Singh in the titular role.
After several weeks full of anticipation, Ranveer Singh has finally been confirmed as the lead in the upcoming movie Don 3, after Excel Entertainment and Farhan Akhtar released the teaser for the movie. Don 3 is slated for a 2025 release.
Ranveer Singh will be stepping into the shoes of Shah Rukh Khan, the star of the previous two Don films in 2006 and 2011, something that the latter’s fan base aren’t taking very well.
Ever since Farhan Akhtar teased fans with a mysterious clip revealing the title '3', fans were waiting with bated breath for Don 3. Chaos followed soon after he announced that Shah Rukh Khan would not be part of the upcoming instalment of the franchise.

The suspense finally ended as Excel Entertainment dropped the teaser which unveiled Ranveer Singh as the new actor playing Don in the titular movie.
In the video, a man is seated on a chair in the middle of a huge room, gazing at the neon-bathed skyline of an evidently animated city. The entire teaser goes on with a voiceover by Ranveer Singh, flexing his Gully Boy skills in a way that no one asked for and most likely, never will.
The particular line said by Ranveer in the voiceover is strong-enough indication that the movie is a sequel rather than a reboot, which Farhan Akhtar suggested in the letter posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, to muffle the outburst of SRK fans.
Later on in the teaser, Singh could be seen walking to the massive glass walls of the room and lighting a cigarette. All of which, leads up to the popular punchline “Main hoon…Don”, which according to fans had very little punch in it.
One thing that goes without saying is that a lot of people felt a nerve of uneasiness after hearing the iconic punchline from someone other than SRK.
Shah Rukh fans have not taken to SRK not returning as Don lightly. People have been filling X and Instagram with posts full of disappointment even before the official announcement, and the teaser of Don 3 today seemed like the final blow.

This is Ranveer’s first commitment to a movie after the Karan Johar-directed Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which gathered a decent business for itself at the box office.
Though RRKPK came after a stretch of flops for Ranveer Singh, his acting capability does hold a lot of strength and the likes of Padmaavat, Gully Boy and Bajirao Mastaani could be the perfect examples for that.
The character ‘Don’ comes with a lot of pressure as the actors who played the character prior to Singh were none other than Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Both the actors were massively praised for their portrayal of the man who 11 countries have not been able to catch hold of.
We have yet to see if Ranveer can actually outshine or even be at par with his predecessors and answer the critics, but the teaser has certainly left an uneasy aftertaste.
