Ranbir Kapoor returns with Animal and unmatched pre-release hype

The trailer of Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Animal seemed to have clicked not just with his fans, but a large section of the Indian audience, and the advance collection of the movie bear testimony to it.
The movie is expected to be a blockbuster for Ranbir Kapoor.
Massive advance collection
- According to reports, Animal has already raked in Rs 10 crore from advance collection in theatres across India.
- It said that the Hindi version alone has collected Rs 5.87 crore for the first day itself, selling 1.76 lakh tickets for 5,570 shows across the country.
- Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said on Monday, November 27, that the movie has sold approximately one lakh tickets for multiplexes alone for the first day of release.
- All these indicate that the movie has already created a huge buzz ahead of its release, and its first day collections could very well be between Rs 30-35 crore.
Why the hype around Animal
1. Exciting trailer
- If the teaser left Ranbir fans intrigued, the trailer went through the roof.
- On social media, Ranbir Kapoor’s first shot from the trailer, where he confronts his father Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor), has been doing the rounds since release day.

3. Emotional roller-coaster ride
- The plot shows a complex father-son relationship, where Ranbir turns a gangster when a tragedy befalls his father, and he sets out to seek revenge against Viraj Surve (Bobby Deol).
- It also sheds some light on the real-life relationship of Ranbir Kapoor with his late father, Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir has said that he wasn't friendly with his father since the latter was always travelling.
- It is also said that Ranbir didn’t share a warm relationship with Rishi Kapoor.
- Fans are also relating to the scene, saying that it speaks the story of not just Ranbir but millions of sons.

2. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s second Hindi movie
- The audience is also excited to watch Ranbir’s collaboration with South Indian director Sandeep Reddy Vanga whose first Hindi movie, Kabir Singh, was a blockbuster.
- Vanga first shot to fame with the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, starring Vijay Deverakonda. Kabir Singh was the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy.
- Vanga is known to create bold characters like Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh, and the Ranbir’s character in Animal is also on the same lines.
- Ranbir’s association with Vanga is expected to work in his favour, as he has also ignited curiosity among the South Indian audience through his work.
- Another reason for Animal being spoken about so much is because Ranbir Kapoor has not done an action movie in his career so far, and Animal is a full-fledged action movie.
Animal, which hits the screens on December 1, is expected to make record collections. Ranbir also needs Animal to be a blockbuster, given that his last movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar was just a hit, but below Ranbir's standards while Shamshera was a big flop. His last big hit was Brahmastra.
