Actor and comedian Pete Davidson has checked into a rehab after struggling with Borderline Personality Disorder and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Page Six reported that the former 'Saturday Night Live' cast member is currently undergoing treatment at a facility in Pennsylvania. A friend of Davidson shared with Page Six, "Pete regularly goes to rehab for 'tune-ups' and to take a mental break, so that's what's happening."

Davidson has always been open about his struggles with mental health and has received immense support from his family and friends throughout his journey. The untimely death of his father, Scott Matthew Davidson, a NYC firefighter who tragically lost his life in the 9/11 terrorist attacks when Pete was only seven years old, had a profound impact on his mental well-being. As a teenager, he turned to stand-up comedy as a means to cope with his grief and channel his emotions.

The American actor has been battling anxiety and depression for years. In 2018, he publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. In an interview with Variety that same year, Davidson shared that he had been in and out of mental health facilities since the age of nine. He has also attended mental health classes in recent years to further his understanding and management of his conditions.

In April 2022, during his highly publicized relationship with Kim Kardashian, Davidson underwent trauma therapy due to online harassment from Kanye West.

Angry voicemail

Pete's decision to seek treatment at the rehab facility comes shortly after he left an emotionally charged and explicit voicemail for Daphna Nachminovitch, Senior Vice President of Cruelty Investigations at PETA. The voicemail was in response to PETA's criticism of him for purchasing a cavapoo puppy instead of adopting one from a shelter.

The comedian addressed the voicemail incident, clarifying to TMZ in early June that he required a hypoallergenic dog due to his allergies and believed that adoption wasn't a feasible option. He was purchasing the puppy to bring joy to his mother and sister. Pete expressed his frustration with the pet store, claiming that they filmed him without his consent or knowledge while he was filling out the paperwork for the dog. He acknowledged that his choice of words in the voicemail was inappropriate but stood by his decision to defend himself and his family.

Car crash

Earlier this year, in March, Pete Davidson and his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders were involved in a car accident when he lost control of his Mercedes-Benz and crashed into a home in Beverly Hills.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. According to TMZ, the police confirmed that drugs or alcohol were not involved, and Davidson was not arrested. On June 16, he was charged with one misdemeanor count of reckless driving. His arraignment is scheduled for July 27.

It is worth noting that Pete Davidson recently attended the premiere of his latest movie, 'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,' on June 5.
