The Oscar nominations are just around the corner, and the race for the coveted golden statuettes is heating up. As the industry's biggest stars and filmmakers gear up for the 95th Academy Awards, speculation and predictions are running rampant as to who will take home the coveted nominations.

The Oscar nominations are one of the most highly-anticipated events in the entertainment industry, with nominees and winners often becoming household names and receiving a boost to their careers. The Academy Awards are widely considered to be the ultimate recognition of excellence in filmmaking, and being nominated for or winning an Oscar is a career-defining moment for many in the industry.

As we approach the 95th Academy Awards, the race for nominations is heating up, with a wide range of films and performances being touted as frontrunners.

In the Best Picture category,

• we can expect to see a strong showing from films like Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Banshees of Inisherin as well as The Fabelmans, which have already gained traction in the awards circuit

Shortlists for 10 categories were announced in December, which included four films from India - The Last Film Show (Chhello Show), All That Breathes, The Elephant Whisperers and RRR.

Fresh from its success at the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards, RRR now moves on to the Academy Awards.

• However, for reasons that exist solely in the minds of the Film Federation of India, RRR is not India's official entry at the Oscars and is therefore ineligible to compete in the Best International Feature category.
• Though the film won’t be competing in the International Feature category (which might I add, it stood the best chance of winning this year given the flimsy competition), it could potentially make it through to the other categories.
