With the release of the long-awaited sequel to Avatar, The Way of the Water, right around the corner, American director James Cameron blames testosterone for his questionable career choices as a filmmaker in Hollywood.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Titanic director reflected back on decisions he took across the span of his career.
He lays the blame on the male sex hormone testosterone, describing himself as a previously “wild, testosterone-poisoned young man” and labelling the hormone as a “toxin that you have to slowly work out of your system”.
Cameron’s statements have been slammed by what can only be labeled as ‘testosterone aficionados’ (yes, Elon Musk too) over the Internet, and have been declared as a “war on men”.
Testosterone is actually needed for males bodies to function properly. Stop the war against men. pic.twitter.com/W8NdtvqU5w

This is the most dangerous statement I’ve ever seen, though not surprised by Hollywood scum ever.

Put aside the “masculine” side effects, testosterone is crucial for proper health.
They want you low testosterone, unhealthy, & depressed
Fuck James Cameron & anyone who loves him pic.twitter.com/avjIs7jeL1
Testosterone is literally the reason all infrastructure of the modern world exists, and all frontiers conquered and most human achievement.

This war on masculinity is a war on humanity.
Hollywood director and soy fan James Cameron said testosterone is “a toxin that you have to slowly work out of your system.”

It’s crystal clear Cameron is a beta male who is waging a war on masculinity through his woke movies.
Patriots must BOYCOTT his upcoming Avatar sequel!

The statements allude to the heated arguments the director has had with studio executives in the past concerning his record-breaking and award-winning films, Titanic (1997) and Avatar (2009).
When an unnamed Fox executive allegedly begged Cameron to reduce the massive 162-minute runtime of Avatar, Cameron recounted to The Hollywood Reporter:
Avatar went on to break multiple records with its $77 million domestic opening weekend in the US and $3 billion global box office gross, according to Box Office Mojo.
Here’s a short compilation of who we consider the most ‘testosterone-fuelled’ filmmakers, at home in India and in the West:
According to Cameron, Avatar: The Way of the Water will have to rank in as the third or fourth highest grossing films of all time just to break even, stating that the film was “very f***ing expensive to make” and the “worst business case in movie history”.
Verdict’s still out on whether or not the film will follow in the steps of its predecessor now that its creator is walking the path forsaking testosterone - a clear formula for success for the first Avatar.
Avatar: The Way of the Water hits theatres on December 16, 2022.
