K-pop boy bands TXT and Stray Kids clinched awards at the 2023 MTV VMAs (Video Music Awards) on September 12, and K-pop enthusiasts couldn't be happier.

The ascent of K-pop in the music industry prompted MTV to introduce the 'Best K-pop' category in 2019.

Awards won by TXT and Stray Kids at the VMAs

  • The K-pop boy band TXT, also known as Tomorrow X Together, garnered nominations in four categories at the VMAs: 'PUSH Performance of the Year,' 'Best K-pop,' 'Group of the Year,' and 'Song of Summer.'
  • TXT secured their first VMA win of the night for 'Push Performance of the Year' with their song 'Sugar Rush Ride,' even before the show commenced.
  • This award was presented to TXT while they were walking the red carpet, making them the second group to achieve this feat after SEVENTEEN's victory last year.

  • The 'Best K-pop' category was the first to be announced at the VMAs, with the K-pop boy band Stray Kids winning for their song 'S-Class.'

BTS member Jungkook also earned his first award as a K-pop soloist for his song 'Seven,' winning the 'Song of the Year' accolade.

Additionally, Blackpink secured 'Group of the Year' and the 'Best Choreography' award for 'Pink Venom' at the VMAs.

K-pop groups nominated for the 'Best K-pop' category included Aespa’s “Girls,” BLACKPINK‘s “Pink Venom,” FIFTY FIFTY‘s “Cupid,” SEVENTEEN‘s “Super,” Stray Kids’ “S-Class,” and TXT’s “Sugar Rush Ride.”

TXT, who won the 'Push Performance of the Year,' competed against nominees such as Flo Milli, Fletcher, Sauce Santana, Flo, Lauren Spencer-Smith, Sam Ryder, JVKE, Armani White, Reneé Rapp, Stephen Sanchez, and Ice Spice.

The VMAs proceeded with great enthusiasm, making it a memorable night for K-pop enthusiasts.

As it's the VMAs, there was no shortage of excitement, with both TXT and Stray Kids delivering electrifying performances that set the stage ablaze!
