Amber Heard paid her ex-husband Johnny Depp $1 million in settlement after the two fought a high-profile defamation trial in June 2022. Johnny Depp will be donating this money to charities.
A source close to Depp, 60, told Entertainment Tonight that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor has decided to donate the lump sum amount of $1 million to five different charities, with each charity receiving an amount of $200,000 each.
The charities that Depp will be donating money to include:
1. Make-A-Film: Make-A-Film foundation pairs actors, directors and writers with children and teenagers who are battling serious life-threatening or serious medical conditions by helping them create short film legacies.
2. The Painted Turtle: part of Paul Newman's legacy, this free camp helps and encourages children with serious medical conditions to enjoy and experience a fun childhood in an inclusive and safe environment.
3. Red Feather: Red Feather partners with Indigenous communities to implement and develop lasting and effective housing solutions.
4. Teitaroa Society: Marlo Brando's charity where they seek to ensure that island and coastal communities have a future, strengthening their resilience to global change, preserving their cultures and restoring ecosystems.
5. Amazonia Fund Alliance: Amazonia Fund Alliance helps finance projects of some of the most prominent non-profit Brazilian environmental organizations such as SPVS, SOS AMAZÔNIA, ALOK Institute for preservation, reforestation, and helping indigenous tribes in the Amazon Rainforest.
