James Corden trolled for plagiarising Ricky Gervais's joke now

James Corden finds himself a new controversy; this time for plagiarism.

James Corden is nearing the end of his time with the Late Late Show and it seems like the English talk show host is unable to avoid the flood of negative news. Like a lot of news outlets are pointing out, Corden is having his Ellen moment right now.

The latest drama surrounding James Corden: The talk show host was called out by comedian Ricky Gervais for more or less copying his joke on Twitter.

Gervais tweeted this (now-deleted because he felt sorry for it!):

In response to James Corden's this joke (listen to it):

James Corden joke:

When you see Elon Musk talk about Twitter he does this thing where he goes, "Well, it's the town square."
- James Corden
But it isn't. Because if someone puts up a poster in a town square that says 'guitar lessons available,' you don't get people in the town going 'I don't want to play the guitar! I want to play the piano, you piece of shit!'
- James Corden

The 2018 Ricky Gervais show:

It's like going into a town square and there's a notice for guitar lessons and you go 'but I don't fucking want guitar lessons!'
- Ricky Gervais

Corden has learned the art of swiftly apologizing since the Balthazar incident. So he tweeted this in response:

And like the rest of those calling out Corden (like Keith McNally of Balthazar restaurant), Gervais was also quick to defend the talk show host theorising that it must have been the writers to plagiarise the joke.

But netizens are not having it. They are having a field day dragging Corden through the mud. Another TV host, Greg Scott, claimed that Corden's staff must have been fed up with him and copied the joke to make the talk show host look bad.

The reputation: James Corden came into the news when he announced that he was departing from the Late Late Show in 2023. But after that, his reputation also took a departing.

  • Corden was first "exposed" as a "tiny cretin of a man" by upscale Manhattan restaurant Balthazar's owner, Keith McNally for being rude to restaurant staff.
  • That got Corden BANNED from the restaurant. Then, came the back and forth, an apology, the UNBANNING, etc.
  • The Balthazar drama didn't end there, Corden went on to say he doesn't know what he did wrong in an interview and that got McNally all riled up once again. But that's enough for the McNally-Corden feud.
  • The restaurant incident is what opened up Pandora's Box. Twitter was full of incidents on how James Corden is an absolute nightmare of a man to strangers and even his own wife.

The James Corden fiasco is very telling of the modern celebrity downfall. From the Try Guys's Ned Fulmer cheating scandal to Ellen DeGeneres, viewers expect the celebs to be true to the character they portray on TV, where they rake in viewers by being "themselves".
