Not many know that Courteney Cox got famous 9 years before playing Monica in Friends. She was the first person to use the word “period” in a US TV commercial. And now, after all these years, she has shared an updated version of that advertisement to talk about menopause.
What was the tampon ad? In 1985, Courteney was featured in an advertisement for a tampon manufacturer named Tampex. In the 80s, when talking about menstruation was uncommon, Courteney used the P-word for the first time in a US TV commercial.

What’s the new version? In an Instagram video, Courteney parodies herself and talks about the hardships of menopause.
And Monica did a pretty good job explaining the menopause struggle.
"Did your life completely change because of menopause? Still getting hot flashes?" she asks with sarcasm along with clips from the original commercial.
"Let me tell it to ya straight. Menopause will change the way you feel about getting older. Menopause will eat you alive. It's horrible. Nothing else can do that," she says in the video.
She goes on to explain how the menopause brings “the added bonus of drier skin, and getting bald patches”.

Since, the young and fit Monica is struggling with menopause right now, Phoebe (played by Lisa Kudrow) couldn't help but laugh at it. She dropped a comment on the video with laughing emoji along with a crying one because of course she could relate to her.
