When the song "Zinda Banda" from Jawan was released, it had a unique element to it. The foot-tapping music possessed a distinct flavour not often seen in Hindi movies, especially the background music, which captivated the attention of many music enthusiasts.

This distinctiveness can be attributed to the composer of the song, Anirudh Ravichander, a celebrated South Indian music composer known for creating unique masterpieces.

First, listen to the track:

For quite some time, Anirudh Ravichander had focused on Tamil Cinema, which gained him recognition, and he had kept away from Hindi movies for personal reasons. However, when Shah Rukh Khan asked him to come on board for Jawan, Anirudh couldn’t say no.

The song "Zinda Banda" has already garnered 35 million views within just 24 hours, and Anirudh Ravichander is receiving praise from all quarters.

Here are 6 interesting facts about the Jawan music composer:

1. Kolaveri D

We all remember the song "Kolaveri D" from the Tamil movie "3". Sung by actor Dhanush, the song became an instant rage in 2012, even before the era of smartphones. It was Anirudh's debut movie as a composer.

"Kolaveri D" became the most searched song on YouTube, and recently, it was honored with a "Recently Most Popular" Gold Medal award by YouTube.

2. Nephew of Rajinikanth's wife

Anirudh Ravichander is the son of actor Ravi Raghavendra and the nephew of Rajinikanth's wife, Lata Rajinikanth. His mother, Lakshmi Ravichander, is a classical dancer.

Before embarking on his career as an independent composer, Anirudh worked as a background music composer in Aishwarya Rajinikanth's short films. It was Aishwarya who was impressed by his exceptional musical skills and gave him the opportunity to compose for her debut directorial movie "3" in 2012.

3. Charged Rs 10 crore for Jawan

According to reports, Anirudh Ravichander charged a whopping Rs. 10 crore for Jawan, which is even more than what AR Rahman charges for movies.

Rahman charges Rs 8 crore per movie, and Anirudh has even exceeded that figure. Whether or not Anirudh justifies his price will be revealed as the other songs of Jawan are released.

4. Why Bollywood so late?

Many wonder why it took 10 years for Anirudh to make music for Hindi films. The reason is that Anirudh himself wanted to establish himself in the Tamil film industry first.

"Bollywood is big, and I have film offers, but all of them want to feature 'Kolaveri D.' Bollywood will happen eventually, but not right now. I can't be a full-time music composer as I've started in Tamil Nadu," Anirudh had said.

5. Considers AR Rahman his inspiration

Anirudh once revealed that he considers the music maestro AR Rahman as his inspiration. He shared this with a fan when asked about his source of inspiration.

The 32-year-old composer grew up listening to the music of the "Mozart of Madras," AR Rahman, and hence, he considers Rahman his inspiration.

Interestingly, Anirudh once performed in a reality show judged by AR Rahman. He was part of a band during his college days, and they participated in a reality show, which they won.
