A Brand-new trailer of The Secrets of Dumbledore is out: What you need to know

As the second trailer of the movie

Dumbledore has been one of the most favourite childhood influencers that I have ever felt inspired by. After my mom, he is the only other academic influencer who I don't mind paying Muggle money to give advice to (that is, if he is willing to accept). So much so, that his quote of turning on the light when it gets dark has been taped inside my wardrobe since the last Harry Potter movie released years ago. Just so that I can read that quote multiple times a day.

Warner Brothers' latest movie The Secrets of Dumbledore, is part of the Fantastic Beasts series, which will release in April this year and whose posters were launched on February 22.

THE LATEST TRAILER

The Fantastic Beasts series has had 2 movies released till date; the first one being Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and the second one being The Crimes Of Grindelwald.

The third movie in the series is called The Secrets of Dumbledore, and will release in April 2022. It is set several years after the events of The Crimes of Grindelwald. It follows Albus Dumbledore tasking the hero, Newt Scamander and his allies with a mission that takes them into the heart of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald's army.

Here's the latest (second) trailer that dropped this week:

Here's the first trailer in case you missed it:

WHAT CAN WE MAKE OUT FROM THE TRAILER?

The trailer shows us a lot of details about Dumbledore's past - it starts with grim dialogues about the past and the memories that are essential, lest the fate of the world is left to chance. This obviously refers to the time when Dumbledore was younger and met Grindelwald, made a blood pact with him, and due to which his sister Ariana died.

Shots of Hogwarts, the Golden Snitch and Quidditch evoke memories of the Harry Potter series and obviously, it's lovely to see a way younger Prof McGonagall approach Dumbledore during troubled times, even in those days.

We see Grindelwald and his followers (who fell for his charisma) preparing for a fight with the Muggles with an intention of exposing the world's wizarding community and provoking a war with the Muggles. This would help them establish themselves as the superior ones and enslave the Muggles 'for the greater good'.

We see Credence (Ezra Miller), or Aurelius Dumbledore, having a phoenix by his side which sort of solidifies his link to the Dumbledores (remember when it was revealed in The Crimes of Grindelwald that Credence is related to Dumbledore?).

As per a legend, a phoenix would appear to anyone of the Dumbledore family in times of dire need (remember the Harry Potter - Part 1 and 2 movies?). This phoenix definitely seems to be unlike any we've ever seen, and is probably affected by the dark powers inside Credence/Aurelius. Is it even a phoenix? We cannot tell for sure considering the number and variety of imaginative beasts that exist in the series.

We see a new team of trusted Dumbledore followers who move on his directions to conquer a quest. This team, which will take on Grindelwald, includes Newt, his indispensable assistant/magical creature caretaker Bunty (Victoria Yeates), one of the school teachers of Ilvermorny Eulalie Hicks (Jessica Williams), a wizard from an old powerful family (William Nadylam), and the cute Baker turned Muggle who will no longer be 'just a Muggle' (Dan Fogler).

Also, did you get all nostalgic and get goosebumps when you saw the portkey in the Room of Requirements?

The Muggle Baker seems to be essential to this movie as a team member pleads him to come with her. The first trailer also shows a rift between lovers Queenie and Mr Baker, who seem to be on the opposite sides of the war. With Mr Baker acquiring a wand now (thanks to Dumbledore, even if it's for the sake of getting more confidence), we will have to wait for the movie to find why exactly his role is so vital.

We also see Dumbledore examining a red pendant, which is a reminder of his blood pact with Grindelwald. Clearly, he is trying to figure out a way to break out of it and tbh, we feel like he does find a way. Because later, we see Grindelwald and Dumbledore both duelling in the trailer, which means the blood pact that forbade them from duelling, has been broken.

Also another question is this - Where is Tina? Has she taken the Polyjuice potion? Or is she dead? Where is she?

WHO ARE STARRING IN IT?

Eddie Redmayne as NEWT SCAMANDER

He is a British Ministry of Magic employee in the Beasts Division of the Department and a self-proclaimed magizoologist (a wizard or witch who studied magical creatures professionally). He is a confidant of Albus Dumbledore, despite being an outcast from certain circles of the British Wizarding Community. The modest magizoologist was integral in the earlier movies where he helped in Grindelwald’s initial capture – so we’re interested to see his role this time (with Pickett on his stick).

Callum Turner as THESEUS SCAMANDER

Newt's brother Theseus is an Auror who lost his fiancé Leta Lestrange in the previous movie The Crimes of Grindewald and was the subject of sibling rivalry with Newt. We might see more of Theseus in THIS movie, and the brothers might have to let their differences aside as they work as a team against Grindelwald. A dedicated, loyal employee of the British Ministry of Magic, he tries to tame Newt into more elegance for better societal acceptance.

Jude Law as ALBUS DUMBLEDORE

Many revelations came out about Dumbledore at the end of the last film, like his blood pact with Grindelwald which prevented them from duelling each other and Grindelwald’s revelation that Credence maybe part of his family. The Secrets of Dumbledore will reveal more juicy truths as the audience is waiting to know more of the extremely powerful and influential wizard of the British Wizarding Community. Dumbledore is currently a teacher of The Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts, who will much later become the Headmaster of Hogwarts (which we saw in the Harry Potter series).

Dan Fogler as JACOB KOWALSKI

The endearing Baker/Muggle/'No-Mag' and Newt's friend, is gifted a wand for Christmas as he shows his prudence in front of young Hogwarts girls (watch the trailer!). Though we are not sure if this wand works, at least he looks good holding one (even if it's just for practice). This guy stole our hearts in the previous instalments and made it an emotional journey, and sort of also reflected our own emotions, because he the outsider in the big magical world.

Richard Coyle as ABERFORTH DUMBLEDORE

Albus’s brother, Aberforth, who was a part of the Harry Potter series, will see much more screen time in this one as a lot of Dumbledore's secrets and childhood stories are expected to be revealed.

Katherine Waterston as TINA GOLDSTEIN

A promoted Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) Auror and Newt's eventual wife, she was weirdly missing from the posters that were launched in February. In a situation that seemed similar to 'Katappa ne Baahubali ko kyu maara?', netizens were disappointed and busy asking "WHERE IS TINA?". Some even made a custom poster for her since she was missing from both, the posters and the trailer.

Alison Sudol as QUEENIE GOLDSTEIN

The pretty, vivacious younger sister of Tina is a powerful natural Legilimens (the act of magically navigating through the many layers of a person's mind and correctly interpreting one's findings) who worked in the Federal Wand Permit Bureau. But after being convinced that Grindelwald will make her dream of marrying Jacob come true, she eventually abandoned her lover and sister. Btw, we love her changed looks and how she has evolved over the series.

Ezra Miller as CREDENCE/AURELIUS DUMBLEDORE

Credence is the mystery man whose hair keeps getting longer every time we see him. At the end of the last film, he discovered secrets about his history. So, is he Credence or Aurelius Dumbledore?

The adopted child of Mary-Lou Barebone, he was severely abused and downtrodden which caused him to set his Obscurus parasite loose in New York City. Though it caused widespread destruction, he survived in a tiny Obscurus fragment and was sought out by Grindelwald. However, by the end of the second film, Grindelwald claimed that his real name is Aurelius Dumbledore and that his brother, Albus, would seek to kill him. So, what is his story? By the looks of it, he might be very relevant to this film if he ends up being related to Dumbledore.

Mads Mikkelsen as GELLERT GRINDELWALD

The infamous, dark wizard, who will now be played by Mads Mikkelsen instead of Johny Depp (who we will miss dearly), caused mass violence and chaos around the globe. He is  seeking to lead a new Wizarding World Order because of his strong beliefs of wizard superiority. What will his powers look like? This man will be the reason behind the sleepless nights that follow the movie's release. The shot where he is depicted as standing near the Brazil School of Magic only shows that he is far more aggresive and his fight against the Muggles has just begun.

ALSO, WHO DOESN'T REMEMBER THIS CUTE CREATURE?

I'm waiting for the fantastic action sequences and more secrets of Dumbledore to tumble out. What are you looking forward to on April 15, 2022?
