Eight things I learnt about Gautam Gulati

Gautam Gulati has won the latest season of the voyeuristic wildlife show better known as Bigg Boss. I have seen this individual when I've lingered on the show one traumatic night when the remote control went and hid itself. It would only be fair to state here that the trauma was not inflicted by Gautam, who I have incidentally discovered has a passionate and vocal social media following who do not seem light of heart or short of abuses. In an attempt to become better acquainted with this lauded personality I embarked upon an enlightening journey into the man behind the Bigg Boss award.

1. As part of my detailed research I went to the first place where you can find out everything about an individual and their feelings about their neighbour's cat: Twitter. Gautam has over 3k tweets, but scrolling just a few tweets down, I found this declaration from the man himself who says he's posting his first tweet. To give him the benefit of the doubt, it seems amateurish enough.

He has got a case of Salmanitis, as followers of the Dabangg star would attest to. Je Suis Salman, Gautam? Really? Why? No, he's a great role model of course. Incidentally, Salman also has a very vocal social media following, and they don't serve minced words in their daily specials.

2. My next stop was an even more iron clad place called Wikipedia which is an open source information centre, for a brief moment you can edit an article about Ryan Gosling to add that you were his childood best friend.

There's just one line about this Gautam person: Gautam Gulati is an Indian film and TV actor, known for his role in Diya Aur Baati Hum and was the winner of Colors reality show Bigg Boss 8.

In a sad turn of events, it turns out he was replaced in Diya Aur Baati Hum. Well, he's showed them who's the boss, right? (Resisting the Bigg Boss pun)

3. Now during my research an article jumped out to me, one that said: "I regret going into the bathroom with Diandra". As far as headlines go, this is a far better attention grabbing quote than "FDI in retail". Bathroom regrets. This regret is not about ablutions, it's about some reported shenanigans that the bathroom in the camera ridden Big Boss is associated with. So this man has put it on record that he regrets shenanigans with a lady he kissed on the show? It would look like. Have I said shenanigans too many times? It would look like.

4. In another interview he has stated he wants to marry Alia Bhatt. This proves that the man has great taste in women and is also very ambitious. Those who counter me saying "Diandra" and "Bigg Boss", I will concede "Well asked".

5. Staying on marriage, he has with folded palms (one would assume) said he will marry the woman his mother wants him to. Hoping for Gautam's sake that aunty likes Alia Bhatt.

6. He has a six pack. A ribbed stomach. A muscular torso by any other name would be just as attractive. The lad has displayed this sectioned midriff on the show many a time. I wonder how the original shirtless brat feels about that. Hi Salman.

7. He has acted in a short-film called Darpok that went to Cannes and has auditioned for Aashiqui 2. Yes that film where they did a reality hunt for the stars and ultimately cast entitled Bollywood kids. But I saw that audition and he's channelled a lot of angst. To think, he might have been the guy to lip-sync to Himesh Reshammiya's "Aaa aaa aashiqui mein teri"... what? Wrong film?

8. #nextsuperstargautamgulati trended for a while on Twitter. This reiterates his social (media) standing. Gautam on his part has taken the adulation seriously and has started saying no to serials and is allegedly looking into some alleged Bollywood offers. B'town, watch your back. I mean, look out.

Moral of the story: If you avoid something with enough passion, the universe will conspire to make you learn about it.
