What would you do if people did things against your will? You will probably talk to them and try to convince them, but some people won't agree. They are busy suing others for the most bizarre reasons.
Yes, they are investing time, money and resources in suing people for some of the most irrelevant reasons. Here are some of these which will leave you shocked.
5 times people sued others for fun, maybe
1. PARENTS SUE COUPLE FOR NOT GIVING THEM GRANDKIDS
In this recent incident from Haridwar, a couple sued their son and daughter-in-law for not giving them a grandchild even after six years of marriage.
In the petition, Sanjeev and Sadhana Prasad asked their son and daughter-in-law to give birth to a child within a year. Failing to do so, they asked their son and daughter-in-law to pay them Rs 5 crore as compensation.
This amount includes money spent on their son’s education, wedding, honeymoon abroad and a luxury car worth Rs 60 lakh.
The case has been filed under mental harassment that the couple is allegedly going through because their son and daughter-in-law refused to produce kids.
The father of the son said, “I have only one son. I spent all my savings on his upbringing and education. I sent him to the US in 2006 for a pilot training course. I spent over Rs 50 lakh for the same. He returned to India in 2007 due to the economic recession abroad. He had lost his job and could not find another for over two years. I supported him financially during this period as well.”
“Almost six years have passed and there is no child. We are facing immense mental harassment,” he added.
2. MAN SUES PARENTS FOR GIVING BIRTH
In 2019, a 27-year-old businessman from Mumbai sued his parents for giving birth to him.
Raphael Samuel believes that it is wrong to bring children into the world because “it was not our decision to be born”.
In this unusual case, the man also demanded that he be paid for the rest of his life because he was born without his consent.
The guy also created a Facebook page named Nihilanand. On the page, he shared the poster with text like, “Isn't forcing a child into this world and forcing it to have a career, kidnapping, and slavery?” and “Your parents had you instead of a toy or a dog, you owe them nothing, you are their entertainment.”
The man also clarified that “it's not that I'm unhappy in my life. I wish I was not born. My life is good, but I'd rather not be here.”
3. COUPLE SUES TAILOR FOR DAMAGE TO SAREE
In 2019, an elderly couple from Bengaluru sued a local tailor for damaging an expensive silk saree.
And they won the case.
After a two-year-long battle, the court had asked the tailor to refund the cost of the saree which was Rs 21,975 and extra Rs 10,00 as a fine for the trouble caused to the couple.
4. CASE OVER KICK FROM ALCOHOL
A man from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh recently sued a liquor shop because he did not get a ‘kick’ after consuming it.
Oh yes, people are doing the weirdest things these days.
According to a PTI report, Lokesh Sothia bought four bottles of alcohol on April 12. “My friend and I consumed liquor from two of those bottles (each of 180 ml), but I did not feel high (intoxicated),” he complained.
He added that this is a case of adulteration and the shop is selling water instead of alcohol.
Out of the 4 bottles, he kept 2 of them sealed as a proof.
The man said he has sent a complaint to Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra and Ujjain Excise Commissioner, Inder Singh Damor. His lawyer is now all set to file a case with the consumer forum.
5. SUED FOR CHARGING 40 PAISA EXTRA
In May 2021, a man in Bengaluru sued a restaurant for overcharging him. That’s fair but he was overcharged 40 paise.
He was charged for Rs 265 instead of Rs 264.60.
But then the consumer court ruled that over 50 paisa can be rounded off to one rupee.
This petition backfired on the complainant. The court said that the man wasted its time for publicity and asked him to pay Rs 4,000 to the managing director of the restaurant as compensation.
What would be your weirdest reason to sue someone?
