Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag has officially announced retirement from international cricket with a tweet on Tuesday. He also said that he would not participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) anymore.

The Indian batsman on Monday hinted that he would call it quits at an event in Dubai on Monday. Sehwag was currently in Dubai to sign up for next year's Masters Champions League (MCL), a Dubai-based T20 tournament, which involves retired cricketers.
The batsman, though, has rubbished reports of his retirement. When he was asked how he could play as MCL is a retired cricketers' league, Sehwag said "If I am not retired I will not play. I will go back to India and announce my retirement."
