Ever since he was made a Rajya Sabha member by the BJP, Subramanian Swamy has attacked finance minister Arun Jaitley with the consistency of a Star Wars stormtropper - from calling the latter an "unelectable dog" to likening his appearance to a "waiter", Modi's favourite economist (and we all know it is not Raghuram Rajan) never runs out of barbs for his party colleague.
So when a political observer asked him whether he would make a better finance minister than Arun Jaitley, there was no holding back for the BJP MP. "I am an economist. He is a lawyer. How can he be better than me?” Swamy said at India Today Mind Rocks Summit in New Delhi on Saturday.
And the firing squad of a human being didn't stop at that. A moderator dared to ask Swamy about a certain "gag order" imposed by the BJP on his pearls of wisdom (or tweets, if you will): "There is no gag order on me. Your problem is that you talk to Jaitley a lot."
*Ouch*
Though such embarrassment is anything but new for both Arun Jaitley and PM Modi, good luck saving face this time. Even on his birthday!
Meanwhile, Twitter had a field day in the second, er... third (or is it fourth now?) round of fire between Swamy and Jaitley:
