After consistent and repeated attacks by Kanye West on ex-wife Kim Kardashian and SNL star Pete Davidson between February 13 and 15, Kim has finally responded.
Kim has filed a request with the judge in her and Kanye's divorce case to make her 'single' at the earliest. She cited Kanye's Instagram attacks, which have caused her immense emotional distress, as the reason for this appeal.
TMZ was able to obtain court documents of Kim's personal statement that read, "I very much desire to be divorced."
In the documents, she also told the judge that she has in the past asked Kanye to keep their divorce private, but he has failed to do so. Kim also talks about Kanye's "barrage of social media posts about their relationship".
The court filing states, "Mr West, by his actions, has made it clear that he does not accept that the parties’ marital relationship is over. Mr West has disseminated on social media the parties’ private communications and misinformation about personal family matters and co-parenting, which has caused emotional distress.Terminating marital status should help Mr West to accept that the parties' marital relationship is over and to move forward on a better path which will assist in peacefully co-parenting the parties' children."
On February 13 this year, Kanye attacked Pete in a series of now-deleted Instagram posts and dragged Machine Gun Kelly, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Hillary Clinton, Mac Miller, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish into the mess. (READ MORE HERE: The story of Ye crazy ex, also known as Kanye West)
After causing unnecessary drama on the internet, he shifted focus to Kim and began sharing screenshots of their personal messages on Instagram. Now deleted, the posts showed that Kim was worried for Pete's safety and Kanye called himself her Number 1 fan. (READ MORE HERE: Kanye is Kim Kardashian's Number 1 fan. The world is scared for her)
His attacks eventually led to massive backlash from the internet and on February 15, he released an apology only directed to Kim and none of the other people he had attacked. But the world didn't accept his apology and as we had hoped, Kim didn't either. (READ MORE HERE: Kanye says sorry to Kim for ALL-CAPS Instagram posts. Internet reacts with a frown)
Kim believes and has told the judge that the 'termination' of her and Kanye's marital status may set him on the path of acceptance that their relationship is over and help him in moving forward and peacefully co-parenting their children; North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
In her personal statement she also added, "While I wish our marriage would have succeeded, I have come to the realization that there is no way to repair our marriage. Kanye does not agree but at least it appears that he has come to the realization that I want to end our marriage, even if he does not. I ask that the Court restore me to the status of a single person so that I can begin the healing process and so that our family can begin the healing process and move forward in this new chapter in our lives."
Kim had filed for divorce in February 2021 and Kanye agreed with her on all the major points. With a prenuptial agreement in place, the ex-couple did not have any property fights either. Unlike her past divorces, this divorce was meant to be easy breezy for Kim, but turned horrific due to Kanye's social media attacks.
Kim's appeal is valid and understandable. To be harrassed and attacked on a social media platform can be harmful not to only her own mental and emotional health, but also to the mental and emotional health of her family and children. Her desire to move on and focus on the future is something that is quite relatable and speaks loads about Kim's maturity in this relationship.
By attacking Kim, Pete and North on his social media, Kanye has pretty much killed any chance he had in reconciling with Kim. Better accept things for what they are, we guess.
