The IITian who put himself on sale on Flipkart for a job and got rejected

IIT-KGP alumni Aakash wanted a job at Flipkart and instead of following the usual boring drill of sending in his resumé to the e-commerce company, he decided to put himself up "For Sale" on their website.

An "aspiring product designer", this is what Aakash wrote: "When you are a 6-pointer and competing with best of the best minds of the country, you know how hard it is to land a job. You start doing some crazy and random stuff to stand out from the crowd. This is my resume for Flipkart's APM Profile. I didn't get an interview call though, but I hope it will bring a smile on someone's face."

Though, one can hardly put a price tag on a bright mind, the humble IITian placed his worth at Rs 27,60,200 only. Now, why wouldn't anyone like to add this IIT product, with a hilarious sense of self-deprecating humour to cart?

On one hand, this novel idea of literally "selling" yourself to your potential employer is both creative and cheeky, it paints a rather saddening picture of many unemployed youth in the country, especially engineers. However, we have examples like current Google CEO Sundar Pichai, whose success story is an exception. Only if Aakash gets a bit lucky.

Though, the screen grab of Aakash's Flipkart ad is now all over the social media, he has deleted his profile from the company's website. He is also the author of the book It wasn't her fault.

Sadly, the "highly utilitarian combination product" in his own words, Aakash is still reportedly unemployed. With Digital India and Skill India still in the nascent stages, seems like it's a difficult time for the country's youth.

He then stayed back in the US and rose his way up the IT corporate ladder. With the latest coronation, he has become American royalty.
