Haryana ministers have become quite the quote machines in recent times and with their escapades at the Rio Olympics, they have been in the limelight for doing, ummm, not the best work.

On Tuesday though, another Haryana minister allowed himself to uphold his state's burgeoning reputation in producing great and super-erudite leaders, when animal husbandry and dairy minister, Om Prakash Dhankar, seriously questioned the "character" of foreign bulls" in the state.

During a debate in the state Assembly on Tuesday, Dhankar said, "Jaisa wahan ke kai mulko mein character hai, waisa he inka character hai". That roughly translates to, "The bulls have the same character of the countries they come from."

So, ummm how does one test the character of bulls?

Is there a Buzzfeed quiz which determines this because our dear Om Prakash Dhankar seems to have assiduously taken it.

"Foreign bulls are more aggressive, they violate more animals (buffaloes as well) because they don't have the character similar to local bulls," Dhankar added.

"Hamara saand ritugami hai, ye ritugami nahi hai (Our bulls mate only when the female's estrous cycle is active but foreign bulls don't care about this)."

According to the minister, the mix-bred bulls population of Haryana see nothing wrong in inseminating even female buffaloes.

Haryana has been developing a reputation for being an RSS incubator, and all this bovine nationalism won't help that reputation either. Let's just say that this ain't the bull's eye we should be aiming for.
