CBSE board exam results on Twitter pass the test

It's that time of the year again — lakhs of Indian students look to their futures full of possibility with anxiety and aspiration. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today released the results of class 12 board exams, bringing relief and then some dread in equal parts.

A look at how the numbers guiding India's primary education worked: 82 per cent candiates cleared the examination, a slight dip compared to last year's 83.05 per cent. Noida’s Raksha Gopal, a student of Amity International School, scored 498 out of 500 (99.6 per cent) to top this year's exam. Bhumi Sawant De from DAV Chandigarh came a close second with 99.4 per cent, while Aditya Jain from Bhawan Vidyalaya in Chandigarh scored 99.2 per cent, at rank number 3.

More than 63,247 students scored more than 90 per cent while more than 10,091 scored more than 95 per cent — perhaps an indicator that competition for college seats will be tougher this year.

Sticking to last year's trend, girls have outshone boys. The pass percentage for girls stood at 87.50 per cent as against 78 per cent for boys — with girls leading the way with a 9.5 per cent difference.

But as has been another growing trend, the exam results themselves drove the jokes on Twitter.

Netflix perhaps had the best take:

Comedian Vir Das had a good list of to-dos:

Good result or not, Twitter got it right: Board exams are not the end of the world. They are just a rite of passage and clearly, a good time for jokes!
