"Your bra strap is showing."
Believe it or not, but in the 21st century "digital India", these five - seemingly unimportant - words have been used far too many times to shame and humiliate a countless number of women.
Why are we so obsessed about a completely harmless bra-strap? Is it a reflection of our society's deep-rooted sexism?
Actress Saloni Chopra, star of MTV India’s Girls On Top, took on the "your-bra-strap-is-showing" brigade head-on in a bold Instagram post.
The actor, who has more than 50,000 followers on Instagram, wrote how women repeatedly get shamed just for revealing a bra strap, while men can roam around topless.
OMG, it's only a bra-strap! |
She also writes about how women should stop being ashamed to talk things like their body, sex, lingerie, tampons, periods, et al.
