The previous seasons of Bigg Boss have had contestants such as Rakhi Sawant, Arshi Khan, Raja Chaudhary, Veena Malik, Dolly Bindra and KRK, to name just a few. They became the reason people tuned into the show each evening.
On that count, season 12 of the reality show has been one hell of a dampener on the entertainment quotient, where fights are so unreal that you don’t need a second guess to find out they are staged.
But genuine controversies are not the only thing that the viewers found missing.
There were no flings — and not much display of talent on the show either.
The current edition has a Bhojpuri singer like Deepak Thakur — but one can hardly hear him croon in the house. Even bhajan maestro Anup Jalota didn’t sing much. The case with Jasleen Matharu, who learnt music from Jalota, wasn’t any different. Jalota did mention that Matharu was a great dancer — but we can’t vouch for it because none of her talent was to be seen during her stay in the Bigg Boss house.
So, there is nothing that these contestants have done in terms of wooing the audience.
However, Bigg Boss is a competition and every competition must have a winner.
So, here are the three contestants who should be in the finale.
Deepak Thakur
Thakur, who sang the ‘Moora’ song in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur-2 (2012), has been more entertaining than most of his competitors. He has made viewers laugh on and off — not by doing extraordinary things, but merely by being his usual self.
Thakur hails from a village in Bihar and carries with him that simplicity in the Bigg Boss house too. He has also played the game smartly by choosing his own interests over Urvashi Vani’s, who entered the house along with him.
His cute flirtations with Somi Khan did add some entertainment to the show.
Surbhi Rana
Rana, a contestant from MTV Roadies Xtreme 2018, added a lot of heat to the show through her uncontrolled screaming in the house. She was rightly called out for her bad behaviour by show host Salman Khan.
But Rana has made tasks interesting and performed them in true MTV Roadies-style.
She has been criticised a lot by fellow contestants and their family members. But the degree of that criticism has been unfair.
It also shows she got under their skin!
S Sreesanth
If there is one contestant in the house whose life people are really interested in, it is former cricketer Sreesanth. Being the controversial cricketer that he is, people actually knew about his 'slapgate' and match-fixing controversies from what they had read and heard in the media.
The season was an opportunity for people to know about these from Sreesanth himself — and he sure didn’t disappoint.
He opened up about his equation with Harbhajan Singh as he did about his alleged role in match-fixing.
He has also lost his temper in the house — a bit too often — something Bigg Boss viewers quite like.
The rest of the people can be asked to go back home. They really didn't have that much to add to the show anyway.
These three can enter the finale straight away.
