Amber Heard and Elon Musk: A timeline of their relationship
Amber Heard's ex-boyfriend, Elon Musk, is currently in discussions during Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation trial. A video of Heard and Musk has been making the rounds on social media where the actor is seen with the billionaire in one of Depp's penthouse elevators.

So where did it all begin? Here is Musk and Heard's relationship timeline:
2012-2013: FIRST MEET
Heard and Musk met at the sets of 2013’s Machete Kills. In the movie, Heard played "Miss San Antonio" Blanca Vasquez and Musk appeared in cameo role.
2016: ROMANCE BEGINS
In 2016, Heard’s divorce from ex-husband Johnny Depp had been finalised. It was the same year that Musk’s divorce with ex-wife Talulah Riley was finalised. At the time, it was reported that it was during this time the Rum Diary actor and Tesla boss became romantically involved.
As per Amber Heard’s testimony on May 16, she met Musk on the 2016 Met Gala red carpet, did not know who he was, and thought of him as a gentleman.
APRIL 2017: INSTA OFFICIAL
On April 24, Heard posted a picture of her and Musk, captioning it 'cheeky' and going Instagram official.
A source told People at the time, "They have known each other for a while. They were friends first, but Elon was always very fascinated by Amber. When the time was right and they were both single last year, he started pursuing her romantically.”
Another source had confirmed to People that Musk initially took interest in Heard during the shooting of Machete Kills.
AUGUST 2017: FIRST BREAKUP
Heard and Musk’s relationship hit the rocks and ended in August 2017. A source told US Weekly, "The timing wasn’t good for them. He’s super busy and works all the time. Amber is filming [Aquaman] in Australia until October. She’s in no position to settle with him. She feels her career is just starting."
Musk also confirmed the breakup, "Btw, just to clear up some of the press storms this weekend, although Amber and I did break up, we are still friends, remain close and love one another."
LATE 2017: RECONCILLATION
By the end of 2017, Heard and Musk had reconsidered their breakup and gave their relationship another chance.
Page Six reported that the pair was seen holding hands at a dinner in LA and spent the holidays in Chile and Easter Island together. But a source told E!News that they the pair were not dating.
FEBRUARY 2018: FINAL BREAKUP
In February 2018, the couple finally split ways. A source had confirmed to Page Six at the time that Musk had decided to end things with Heard.
Currently, Musk has two children; Exa Dark Sideræl and X Æ A-12 Musk with on-again, off-again girlfriend Grimes, while Heard has a daughter named Oonagh Paige, born in July 2021 through a surrogate.
