No more auto-correct duck ups? Apple announces new feature update

Imagine you have to type out your annoyance and the ducking keyboard messes it up. What the duck, right? Well, this might just be the very end of it, or at least that’s what Apple assures.

At this years’ Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, the tech giant announced the upcoming release of iOS 17 later this autumn, and how it will bring on several updates over the iOS 16. But the most highlighted feature of them all was the announcement of the update of the autocorrect functionality. 

Apple’s software chief engineer Criag Federighi explained that with the new update will give your iPhones the ability to use in-line predictive typing and even sentence level corrections. 

So what does that mean?

In simple words, your Apple device will learn each and every word you type and even remember it - even your favourite varieties of cuss words. So no more duck-ed out F-bombs and no more of the duck?!

What the duck is it?

The love-hate relationship between our thumbs and the auto-correct feature traces back to the very sigh of annoyance on the very first failed ‘ducking’ word. Now what does cumulative annoyance bring out of the social media world? MEMES. This is where the duck meme comes in. 

One can say that the duck meme has been that make-use coping mechanism for every bit of irritation that comes along with each and every instance we go out of the seemingly U/A language pack that our device is loaded up with, and that is exactly where the duck comes charging onto the frontline. If we take the hype on every social media platform as the evidence, netizens clearly consider the duck as the comic substitute of a F-Bomb. 

The memes have always had a strong presence all over the internet or at least that’s how it used to be.

With the announcement of iOS 17 by Apple, one can say that with the end of ducked-up auto-correction, the duck meme losing relevance and stepping down to it’s grave, is quite inevitable.
