Google Pixel is definitely among the top three phones in the market right now, all because of its features, sleek new design, and camera quality. If you are planning to buy it, you are hardly the only one. But there's a catch that might make your wallet very nervous.
Google has clarified that if a customer in India buys any Google Pixel model through Amazon or any shopping website other than Flipkart, the authorised Google Pixel dealer, the device will not be covered under any form of warranty. It doesn't matter what the 'warranty' on the phone box or the website says.
This basically means that if you buy a Google Pixel mobile from Amazon, any damages or fault in the mechanism of the device will not be treated under any warranty and you will have to pay a significant amount for it to get fixed.
Let’s say you buy a Google Pixel 7 from Amazon and the one thing that you get nightmares about, becomes a reality. You drop the phone and the display breaks. That nightmare will cost you Rs 20-25,000 or you might just have to get the entire phone replaced.
Yes, everything about that sounds bad.
A Google official told Aaj Tak that the company sells all its authorised Pixel models through Flipkart and not Amazon or any other shopping websites. On websites other than Amazon, the Google Pixel is provided only by third-party sellers who buy these devices from Flipkart and then sell it ahead.
This means that the warranty will only be available on those phones that are bought from Flipkart and not on the phones bought from any third party.
However, this does not imply in any way that you won’t be getting a Google Pixel device on Amazon now on; but without the warranty, would you really want to take that huge a leap of faith?
