The Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly known as E3, is an annual trade fair for the video game industry. Many video game publishers and manufacturers introduce and advertise their upcoming games and merchandise at the expo. Unlike other video-game trade fairs open to the public, E3 is an industry-only event.
The 2016 edition is taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, USA from June 14 to 16.
E3 2016 has begun and with it comes madness, on-stage gimmicks and more importantly, new games.
Here's our round-up of the five biggest game announcements from day one of the EA and Bethesda press conference:
1. TitanFall 2 (PS4, Xbox One, PC) (Release Date: 28/10/16)
The sequel to the 2014 Mech multiplayer shooter, Titanfall 2 features new titans, more acrobatic traversal options, new weapons, equipment and a brand new single-player campaign. Titanfall 2 is shaping up to be a big release for EA and Respawn.
2. Mass Effect: Andromeda (PS4, Xbox One, PC) (Release Date: 2017)
Mass Effect is coming back! That sentence alone is enough to send most fanboys into a feeding frenzy. But like last year, BioWare has opted to keep fans guessing till more details are revealed this fall. The little titbits of gameplay we managed to glimpse from the small behind the scenes featurette has us excited nonetheless.
3. Quake Champions (PS4, Xbox One, PC) (Release Date: TBA)
ID successfully bought DOOM back to life this year by giving us probably the most adrenaline fueled single-player campaign we have played in a long while. The fast, acrobatic shooter appealed to both the nostalgic and newcomers alike.
With DOOM done and dusted, ID is now bringing back another popular arena shooter, Quake. Named Quake Champions, it looks to be a cross between "Quake 3 Arena" and "Overwatch". Colour us intrigued.
4. Dishonored 2 (PS4, Xbox One, PC) (Release Date: 11/11/16)
Dishonored 2 is nearly upon us and to celebrate the occassion, Bethesda revealed new single-player gameplay from the title. The game is going to have two playable characters this time -Corvo and Emily. The game also promises new void powers, weapons, runes and much more.
5. Prey (PS4, Xbox One, PC) (Release Date: 2017)
The long rumoured, then cancelled, then rumoured again game finally got unveiled at the Bethesda event, in a form none of us were expecting. Prey has been rebooted as a psychological thriller/mysterysci-fi/horror title, and in our opinion, it looks awesome.
