OpenAI's groundbreaking developer conference brought to light a series of exciting developments surrounding ChatGPT 4-Turbo, a formidable upgrade to the renowned language model.

  • This new iteration introduces a multitude of enhanced capabilities, promising to redefine the boundaries of what users can achieve with AI-powered natural language understanding.
  • From extended input lengths and an updated knowledge base to image support, cost reductions, and an ingenious approach to customisation, OpenAI's latest offering presents a significant leap forward in the world of AI-driven conversational agents.

Have a look:

1. Increased input length

ChatGPT 4-Turbo can now accept much longer inputs, up to 300 pages of text. This is a substantial improvement compared to the previous limit of 50 pages. This allows for more extended and complex prompts, potentially leading to more meaningful responses.

2. Updated knowledge base

The new version is trained on data up to April 2023, which is a significant advancement from the previous version, which only had knowledge up to September 2021.

OpenAI has also mentioned its commitment to keeping the model's knowledge up to date.

3. Support for images

GPT-4 Turbo can accept images as prompts directly within the chat interface. It can generate captions or provide descriptions of the content in the images. This expands the model's capabilities to understand and interact with visual content.

4. Text-to-Speech

The model can now handle text-to-speech requests, enabling it to generate spoken responses or audio content.

5. Document analysis

Users can upload documents directly to ChatGPT and ask the service to analyse them. This functionality allows the model to extract information and insights from documents, similar to other AI chatbots like Anthropic's Claude.

6. Cost reduction for developers

OpenAI has reduced the costs for using ChatGPT 4-Turbo for developers, making it three times cheaper. This reduction applies to input and output tokens, which are units used by large language models to understand instructions and generate responses.

7. Legal support

OpenAI committed to defending its customers, including enterprises, against legal claims related to copyright infringement resulting from the use of its products. The company will also cover the costs incurred in such cases.

8. GPT Store

Alongside GPT 4-Turbo, OpenAI plans to launch a GPT store where popular tools created by "verified builders" can be accessed more widely. Users will also have the opportunity to earn money based on the usage of their GPTs.

9. "GPTs" for customisation

OpenAI introduced the concept of "GPTs", which are customisable versions of ChatGPT. Soon these GPTs can comply with specific instructions and have access to user-provided information. They are designed to be user-friendly and don't require coding skills to create.

10. Future development

OpenAI expressed its commitment to making GPTs more useful and smarter over time. The company envisions these systems as progressively becoming more autonomous and capable of taking on real-world tasks, often referred to as "agents."
