BTS V reveals the K-pop group that inspired his album Layover

V, a member of the Korean boy band BTS, has finally unveiled details about his highly anticipated solo debut album titled "Layover," which was officially announced by their agency Big Hit Music on August 8. The album is scheduled to be released on September 8.

In a recent interview, V sheds light on the K-pop group that served as inspiration for his album.

The album created a buzz when it was revealed that Min Hee Jin, the CEO of NewJeans' label ADOR, played a significant role in V's album.

Min Hee Jin is renowned for being the mastermind behind the global success of NewJeans' songs, and V personally approached her for collaboration on this project.

In a conversation with W Korea, V openly discussed his inspiration drawn from f(x)'s album "Pink Tape," a project that holds great significance in Min Hee Jin's career as the creative director at SM Entertainment.

V expressed his desire to explore a new creative concept and believed that Min was the perfect person to bring it to life.

Released in 2013, "Pink Tape" received accolades for its innovation and cohesiveness, making it a trailblazing K-Pop album.

The enduring impact of "Pink Tape" on Korean pop culture has sparked heightened anticipation for V's album "Layover."

Insights into Layover

The official announcement of the album encouraged fans to listen to all six songs in sequence, from start to finish, to fully experience the album's flow.

• V has already shared two music videos, namely "Love Me Again" and "Rainy Days," which have pleasantly surprised fans with their distinctive style and visuals.

• The "Love Me Again" video predominantly features shades of yellow, blue, brown, and blue, chosen possibly due to the limited color spectrum visible to dogs—gray, brown, yellow, and blue.

• It's believed that V maintained these tones to pay homage to his dog Yeontan (also known as Tan, Tannie, or Kim Yeontan), who plays an integral role in the album, as evidenced by V's Instagram posts.

• With two music videos already released and a teaser for the upcoming "Blue" video, fans are excitedly piecing together a larger narrative.

Amid the anticipation for V's solo album, these videos have injected a refreshing perspective. The album's coherent theme has resonated well with fans, a credit to Min Hee Jin's creative touch for infusing it with a unique flavor.

Regarding V's upcoming event schedule, it has been confirmed that he will be performing four songs on NPOP, a monthly K-pop chart music show launched by Naver and Playlist.
