Andrew Tate, the 36-year-old kickboxer-turned- 'banned' Internet guru, is yet again in the news, this time for pestering 19-year-old Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg. But Thunberg, who has had her fair share of criticism, seems to be finally having her teenage moment as she shushed down Tate with the most Gen-Z response possible.
The Internet splat started when the so-called “cyber misogynist”, Tate, took to Twitter to show off the emissions of his 33 cars. Not that Greta or anyone asked him; he went on to list out the emissions of his Bugatti and Ferrari and ended the tweet with,
Thunberg’s subsequent reply is being lauded as “savage” by several audiences on Twitter as they mock how Tate’s insecurity is evident from engaging in unnecessary Internet fights with a teenager.
And then came Tate’s comeback...
Attached to the tweet is an equally absurd 2-minute-long video that was filled with (un)iconic quotes,
“Why would that be your email address, Greta? Strange.”
“Also, I want to sue her gender. It’s 50-50.”
“I’m not actually mad at Greta. Please bring me pizza and make sure that these boxes are not recycled.”
“She doesn’t realise she’s programmed, that she’s a slave of the matrix.” (take notes, Elon Musk)
“The global matrix got this bot farm to like and retweet all this bot commenting to try and pretend her telling me that she has a small dick somehow teaches me a lesson.”
Following the video, both Tate and Thunberg are trending and most of the Internet is still laughing (albeit with a bit of concern) at how petty Tate can be. From him moving to Romania for its relaxed sexual violence laws to just dropping blatantly sexist theories on podcasts, Tate is a repeat offender at beefing with people on the Internet (or engaging in “e-lafdas” as some in India would call it).
Interestingly, in the recent Netflix thriller Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (read our review here), Dave Bautista’s character Duke Cody seems to be very reminiscent of influencers like Tate. Both b̶a̶l̶d̶ ~follicly challenged~ men are men rights activists with significant online presence and indulge in controversies that get them banned from social media platforms.
Thankfully, Tate hasn’t watched Glass Onion or even Batista might receive a personalised 2-minute video of Tate eating pizza and smoking a cigar. When he’s ready to fight a young climate change activist, what’s stopping him from going against a former WWE wrestler playing a parodied version of him?
(ending this with a silent sigh for anyone who has to deal with Tate)
