Ill-omen: Veena Kapoor's son says he killed her because of step-child treatment

Sachin Kapoor, the son of a Mumbai woman, brutally murdered his mother on December 6. Sachin Kapoor has now spilled the beans on what really went wrong between him and his mom Veena Kapoor. Sachin, who is a tutor by profession in Juhu, told the cops that he was unhappy with his mother since childhood as she was very cold towards him. He also said that years from frustration had been building up within him, and that finally led to him killing his mother. 

Sachin told the Juhu police how his mother Veena considered him an 'ill-omen' as his father suffered huge losses on the day that Sachin was born.

In a case of mistaken identity, the Mumbai woman who was murdered, was earlier identified as the TV actor Veena Kapoor. The veteran TV actor later reached out to the police to say that she was alive, and that her son's name is Abhishek Chadda.

What Sachin said: In the interrogation, Sachin revealed that there were never good relations between the son and the mother, and according to him, Veena always preferred her elder son over him.

• He confessed that he was always meted out a step-child treatment and the hatred in his heart against her had been festering since he was a child.
• According to a Hindustan Times report, Sachin confessed to the police that though it was a sudden argument that got him to commit the dastardly crime, the anger against his mother was something that had been building up since he was a child.
• The police officer who spoke to Sachin said that he regretted the killing, but Sachin had expected something like this to happen sooner or later.
• During the interrogation, the police also got to know that his domestic help Chhotu, alias Lalkumar Mandal, who helped Sachin dispose off the body had also cleared the bloodstains of Veena Kapoor from the floor and other parts of the house.
• It was also found that Sachin had also uninstalled 13 CCTV cameras fitted inside the seventh-floor flat and threw them in the Matheran gorge where he also dumped the body.

How the murder came to light: The news of murder came to light when Sachin's elder brother Nevin, who lives in the US, got suspicious about the whereabouts of his mother. 

• Since Nevin and Veena would talk to each other every day, when on December 6 his calls went unanswered, he suspected something wrong. Nevin then called his brother Sachin, but he too didn't respond.
• Nevin then alerted the Juhu police and requested them to visit her home.
• The police, on getting the information, visited the flat in Kalpataru Solitaire in Juhu at 11 pm but found it locked.
• The security guard told the police that he had seen Sachin and his domestic help take something wrapped in plastic sheet to Sachin's car. 
• On checking the mobile tower locations, the police found that Veena's phone was in the flat itself, while Sachin's was somewhere in Panvel.
• The police broke open the door with the help of a fire brigade team.
• The cops also checked the other CCTVs of the flat and suspected foul play when they saw Sachin and Chhotu carrying some sort of heavy luggage out on a wheelchair and into his car.
• Both the accused were arrested and the body of Veena Kapoor was fished out by the police from near Matheran.
• The police have also recovered the baseball bat used in the crime scene.

The day of murder: On the day of murder, Sachin reached the house located in Mumbai's Juhu area at around 6-7 am.

• The son and the mother got into a heated argument, after which Sachin, in a fit of rage, smashed Veena's head with a baseball bat nearly 40 times. 
• Veena died on the spot.
• Sachin disposed of the body in a cardboard box almost 90 km from the flat with the aid of Chhotu. 
• The body was dumped in a river near Matheran in the Raigad district in Maharashtra.
