Who is Lawrence Bishnoi? Why is he fearing for his life?

In 2018, Lawrence Bishnoi came into light after a criminal from his gang, Sampat Nehra, was apprehended by the Haryana STF as he was in Mumbai to allegedly kill actor Salman Khan. 

Sampat had alleged that he had been given this task by Bishnoi.

Lawrence belongs to the Bishnoi community of Rajasthan, which considers Black Buck as a sacred animal. This was a reason why Bishnoi threatened Salman Khan.

ALLEGED INVOLVEMENT IN THE SIDHU MOOSE WALA MURDER

Bishnoi’s name is in the news because of his alleged involvement in the murder of Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moose Wala on May 29, 2022. After the murder, criminal Goldy Brar, who also belongs to the Bishnoi gang, and operates from Canada, took the responsibility for the murder on Facebook.

Bishnoi is alleged to have planned the murder from Tihar Jail.

WHY HE FEARS FOR HIS LIFE?

Ever since his name has appeared in the alleged murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, Bishnoi fears for his life. He has moved an application to the Delhi high court on May 29, seeking security arrangement apprehending a fake encounter. 

WHO IS HE?

Lawrence Bishnoi, 31, is the son of well-off farmer from Dhattaranwali village near Abohar in the Ferozepur district in Punjab. He attained education till class 12th at Abohar and later shifted to Chandigarh in 2010 to pursue college education. 

At present, there are more than dozen cases against him for murders, attempt to murder and extortion. It is also believed that he operates the gang from inside the Tihar Jail.

FIRST CRIME

Bishnoi entered the world of crime through student politics in Chandigarh. Then he was the student of DAV College, Sector 10. He was also then the president of the Student Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) between 2011 and 2012.  

As per the criminal dossier, the first FIR against Lawrence Bishnoi was of an attempt to murder. After this, it was an FIR for trespassing in April 2010.

USHERING INTO THE WORLD OF CRIME

Bishnoi was introduced into the world of crime by gangster Jaswinder Singh alias Rocky, a gangster-turned-politician. Initially, Bishnoi in his student days had created a gang of his own by involving sports persons and wards of police personnel.

He remained active in the region of Rajasthan, especially Sri Ganganagar, Bharatpur, under the garb of student politics. 

At present, he is lodged at the Tihar Jail in connection with a MCOCA case and is also being grilled over the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala.
