Techie arrested for 'molesting' co-flyer on Frankfurt-Bengaluru Lufthansa flight

A 52-year-old guy got in trouble for allegedly sexually harassing a 32-year-old woman from Tirupati on a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Bengaluru. The woman filed a complaint at the Bengaluru Airport police station on Wednesday, November 8.

The guy made inappropriate advances during the flight, she accused.

What happened

The complainant, while flying got trapped in the nightmare of every woman while flying when a 52-year-old IT professional allegedly molested her. 

  • The incident took place when a 32-year-old woman, was flying from Frankfurt-Bengaluru Lufthansa flight.
  • According to the complaint, the woman went to sleep after the flight took off from Frankfurt, Germany.
  • When she woke up four hours later, she found Renganathan's (the alleged perpetrator) hand on her thigh and he appeared to be asleep.
  • After thinking it must be a mistake she pushed his hand back and fell asleep again.

But...

  • She woke up again 15 minutes later only to realise that his hand was again on her lap and complained to the crew.
  • After the complaint, she was allotted a different seat, and after landing she filed a complaint at the police station against Renganathan.

Police Statement

According to the Times of India, a senior police officer said, "We arrested Renganathan under IPC section 354A (sexual harassment) and he was released on bail. Renganathan told police he didn't touch her consciously. He further claimed that the complainant didn't complain about him to the crew".
