Partial solar eclipse today: Timings, live tracking and all other details

On Tuesday (October 25), a partial solar eclipse or Surya Grahan will occur in some parts of the world, including India. This is the first time that a partial solar eclipse will be seen in India in over a decade.

What is a partial solar eclipse? 

• Partial solar eclipses, which are classified as rear celestial events, occur when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth but only partially blocks the Sun's disc. This occurs as the Moon revolves around the Earth and occasionally passes in front of the Sun, partially or completely obstructing the Sun's view from the Earth. 
• However, the eclipse can only be seen from areas covered by the Moon's shadow as it travels around the Earth.   
• There are three phases of a partial Solar Eclipse - the beginning, the maximum point, and the end. 

According to PTI, the eclipse will begin in Iceland at around 02:29 pm IST, The maximum eclipse time will be at 05:30 over Russia and end at around 06:32 pm (IST) over the Arabian Sea.

In India, the solar eclipse will be visible from 04:29 pm and will end with the sunset at 05:42 pm. 
Today's solar eclipse (October 25) will be visible in the region covering :

• Europe
• The Middle East 
• North-eastern parts of Africa, 
• Western Asia, 
• The North Atlantic Ocean, and the North Indian Ocean.

The total duration of the solar eclipse, is 1 hour, 39 minutes and 31 seconds.

Solar Eclipse in India: Can you see the eclipse from your state? Except for a few states in the northeast, most of India will be able to see the phenomenon. Northern areas, such as Leh in Ladakh and New Delhi, will have the best eclipse visibility. The eclipse will start at 4.29 pm and the maximum fraction will be visible at 5.30 pm.
