Mark Zuckerberg vs Elon Musk in a cage fight. Who has the winning chances?

On June 21 (Wednesday), the “Chief Twit” of Twitter Elon Musk took to his social media platform to ask fellow billionaire Mark Zuckerberg if he’s up for a “cage match”. Now, the Meta CEO has responded to Musk’s offer via an Instagram story where he shared a screenshot of the tweet while writing, “send me location”.

How did Musk vs Zuck start?

The clash started when entrepreneur Marion Nafwal tweeted out how Meta is making a “Twitter rival” called threads. He went on to add how he feels Meta has copied many other apps like TikTok and Clubhouse from its Facebook days up until now.

Nafwal’s tweet also mentions how Meta’s chief product officer Chris Cox attacked the Musk-led Twitter by saying that Meta’s creators and public figures are “interested in having a platform that is sanely run”.

Musk, who is no stranger to replying to fiery tweets and creating further controversies, replied by saying, "I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options. At least it will be 'sane'. Was worried there for a moment."

When a random Twitter user @kwmarkoff26656 joined the discussion, suggesting that Musk shouldn’t mess with Zuckerberg as he knows jiu-jitsu now, Musk chanelled his inner MMA fighter,

“I’m up for a cage match if he is lol”

Zuck is a jiu-jiutsu fighter

Regardless of any anti-body shaming guidelines on Meta or Twitter, both Musk and Zuckerburg have been mocked for their physiques. While Zuckerberg is often memed as a slender “lizard person” (and let’s not forget that infamous surfing photo), Musk was trolled for his bulky upper body after a shirtless picture went viral in 2022.

The trolling got to Musk, who began changing his physique and losing over 20 pounds with intermittent fasting. But then again, Musk isn’t exactly the best health advocate as he has also supported usage of controversial drugs like the appetite-decreasing Ozempic.

Zuckerberg, on the other hand, is more than a lizard person as recently, he also showed off his hand-to-hand combat skills. His latest post on Instagram finds him sparring with jiu-jitsu champion Mikey Musumeci. “starting to prepare for our MMA debuts” he wrote on the caption along with a winking emoji. Is he just joking or actually preparing for an MMA debut?

The Meta founder and CEO is so drawn to jiu-jitsu that he even recorded himself fighting with a motion-capture suit. The result was a nightmarish animated Zuckerberg, complete with the fighting gloves and shin guards.

Another Instagram post by Zuck from 6 weeks ago also finds him proudly showing off how he competed in his first jiu-jitsu tournament and even won some medals for his team.

Musk knows jiu-jiutsu (and a couple of other martial arts)

As for Musk’s fighting credentials, the Twitter CEO revealed all the martial arts he picked up during his childhood in his 2020 appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast. He revealed that he was trained in Kyokushin karate, judo and taekwondo at a young age. But in the 2020s, he has also briefly trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu just like Zuckerberg.

Musk also told Rogan that he began sending his kids to jiu-jitsu classes as soon as they turned 6. But unlike Zuckerberg, Musk hasn’t been sharing any run-ins with martial arts on his social media. He still tweets about “cat girls” though.

Musk vs Zuck: Who has the winning odds?

In terms of height, Musk’s 6 '1’’ height surpasses that of Zuckerberg’s, who stands at 5 '7’’. While Zuckerberg comes off as more agile, Musk might have more brute strength given the Superman-like chest that he has been developing recently.

In the end, the cage fight might just turn out to be a clash of egos between the two men (or man-children as the Twitterati see them). After all, Zuckerberg is 39 years old and Musk is 51. But they can probably catch a break when they have a good, old playground fight (but in a UFC cage and with a plethora of sponsorships). Ah, just normal billionaire things.

If this fight actually happens, it is the gamblers who will have the last laugh. And if rapper Drake places his bets on either one of the tech-billionaires, there are high chances that the other person wins the fight. After all, the last time Drake placed his best on controversial influencer Jake Paul against boxer Tommy Fury, he lost 335,000 pounds!
