Social media, where the most eccentric things can abruptly evolve into viral sensations, captivating us so completely that we can't help but press the share button. Yet, hold on for a moment. While the viral meme of 'Kya hain Sachin mein' ('What is so special about Sachin'?') might have amused many, it presents an entirely distinct narrative for Pakistani woman Seema Haider. For her, the humour remains elusive.

In fact, she is going to take legal action against her (or should I say Sachin's) neighbour for branding Sachin as 'Lappu Sa.' Who would have predicted that a nickname could ignite legal fireworks?

Unveiling the viral meme

If you're still unacquainted with the viral meme, see it for yourself first:

Now that you've absorbed this and are perhaps pondering the perplexing Sachin scenario and the inexplicable reason this lady has bestowed the moniker 'Lappu Sa' (loosely translating to 'a loser guy') and other such designations upon him, let's clarify the matter:

Sachin is, in reality, none other than Seema Haider's partner. Seema, a 30-year-old Pakistani woman, crossed the border accompanied by her four children, all for the sake of being with her 22-year-old Sachin. He resides in the Rabupura vicinity of Greater Noida, UP.

A time of their relationship (prepare yourself, it's quite the journey):

  • The couple's paths converged during an online game of PUBG in 2019, a time when PUBG was still permissible in India.
  • Swiftly exchanging numbers, they communicated via WhatsApp, eventually succumbing to profound affection.
  • Seema, previously wed twice, was the mother of four children from her initial marriage.
  • Her second husband was already overseas working in Saudi Arabia.
  • In March of 2023, they resolved to meet face-to-face for the first time, selecting neutral ground between Pakistan and India - Nepal.
  • Over the course of seven days, the couple and Seema's children relished their time together in a hotel, capturing various moments on social media.
  • Despite parting ways, their separation kindled an unwavering aspiration - to bring Seema to India.
  • They turned to YouTube, diligently investigating methods to facilitate Seema and her children's entry into India.
  • Once prepared, the plan for Seema's arrival was set into motion. By May 13, she successfully stepped onto Indian soil, adopting the alias Preeti.
  • However, Seema's journey was no easy feat - it necessitated an investment of 12 lakhs INR, encompassing a flight to Dubai, followed by Nepal, and finally, crossing the Nepalese-Indian border, all while accompanied by her four children.

The journey's challenges

Seema and Sachin's narrative did not culminate in a fairy-tale ending akin to Veer-Zaara. In truth, their challenges were only just beginning. Here's the sequence of events that ensued:

  • Sachin introduced Seema to his landlord as his wife, and they commenced cohabiting in Greater Noida.
  • Seema embraced Hinduism, and the couple began living together with 'their four kids.'
  • Unfortunately, this arrangement proved short-lived.
  • On July 4, Seema, Sachin, and Sachin's father found themselves arrested for their involvement in facilitating the couple's settlement.
  • Seema faced charges for her unauthorized entry into India, while both Sachin and his father were accused of aiding her entry.
  • However, three days later, they were released on bail, subsequently garnering substantial attention from the media, neighbors, and eventually, social media.

The viral meme: 'Lappu sa Sachin'

Returning to the meme (and without delving into speculations regarding Seema's potential connection as an ISI agent or her subsequent denial of such allegations), the meme's origin stems from an entirely unexpected incident.

It all transpired when a local media outlet approached one of Seema's neighbors, Mithilesh Bhati, seeking their perspective on the couple.

And as we have all witnessed on our Instagram feeds, her response turned into a meme.

Check the video out once again:

Subsequently, the audio clip went viral, inspiring various creators on Instagram, including Yashraj Mukhate, to craft a song employing audio excerpts from the interview (which is still trending, boasting over 1 million likes).

And the reactions, memes and everything else followed. Here are some:

The legal action

Yet, how can Seema tolerate this affront to a man for whom she traversed the expanse from Pakistan? Thus, Seema's legal counsel has issued a warning to Mithilesh Bhati, signalling the intention to pursue legal action.

Seema's lawyer, AP Singh, conveyed that Mithilesh Bhati could anticipate responses from husbands across the nation for her "disrespectful" remarks about Sachin. AP Singh underscored that this remark dishonours every husband.

In a diverse country like ours, insults based on skin colour and physical attributes will not be tolerated. We are planning to take legal action against the woman
- AP Singh, Seema's Lawyer

Mithilesh Bhati, in response, asserted that her intention was not to insult anyone.

I got angry, and those words slipped from my mouth. Such language is commonly used here in our colloquial conversations. People call me ‘lappi’ but that doesn’t mean I will become ‘lappi’. I have not insulted anyone
- Mithilesh Bhati

Will Seema and Sachin's love story culminate in a joyous conclusion? Shall we witness a legal case against Mithilesh? Only time holds the answer.
