An incident of sexual harassment unfolded aboard an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Guwahati early today (September 11). A male passenger allegedly groped a female co-passenger seated beside him after the cabin lights were dimmed on the late-night flight.
According to an official statement released by IndiGo, the accused harasser was apprehended upon arrival at Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
This occurrence marks the fourth such incident involving Indian passengers within a mere span of two months.
However, her discomfort escalated when she woke up again to discover the man touching her inappropriately.
Suspicious, she feigned sleep to ascertain whether the actions were deliberate or not.
To her dismay, the man persisted with unwanted advances, even engaging in inappropriate self-touch.
Overwhelmed by the experience, she took action for the third time. "I was shocked at what I had just experienced. I had to do something to protect myself and ensure this man faced consequences," she added.
With courage, she firmly grabbed his hand, screamed for help, turned on the seat lights, and summoned assistance from the cabin crew.
IndiGo promptly responded to the incident, confirming that they had turned over the alleged perpetrator to the Guwahati police.
An FIR (First Information Report) has also been filed, as stated in the airline's press release.
IndiGo has pledged full cooperation with the authorities throughout their investigation.
