Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022: Poll dates, phases, counting, results

Gujarat assembly elections will take place in two phases, on December 1 and on December 5, the Election Commission announced on Thursday (November 3). The counting of votes will take place on December 8.

The legislative assembly of Gujarat has 182 members and currently the BJP is in power in the state. The two-phase election is expected to witness a three-cornered contest between the BJP, the Congress, and the Aam Aadmi Party.

 

Phase 1

Seats going to poll: 89

Issuing of notification: November 5

Last date to file nominations: November 14

Last date for withdrawal of nomination: November 17

Election date: December 1

Counting of votes: December 8

 

Phase 2

Seats going to poll: 93

Issuing of notification: November 10

Last date to file nominations: November 17

Last date for withdrawal of nomination: November 21

Election date: December 5

Counting of votes: December 8

Other important details:

  • Over 4.9 crore total electors are eligible to vote in 182 seats for Gujarat.
  • Over 51,000 polling stations earmarked for Gujarat assembly.
  • Special effort to improve polling in areas with the least voter percentage.
  • The date of counting for Gujarat polls to coincide with Himachal Pradesh on December 8.
  • 1274 polling stations to be completely managed by women.
