With The Menu set to release at TIFF, here are five restaurants across the world that will blow a hole in your pocket

The Menu starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult, is a black comedy horror film following a young couple as they travel to a remote island to eat at an exclusive restaurant. The restaurant, run by celebrity chef, has prepared a lavish molecular gastronomy menu where food is treated as conceptual art, but his approach to cuisine has some shocking surprises for the wealthy guests.

Directed by Mark Mylod of Succession fame, and produced by Oscar-nominated Adam McKay, the film is a dark satire and class commentary on the culture of haute cuisine. The film also stars Ralph Fiennes as the sinister head-chef in-charge of the evening’s ominous fine dining escapade.

While the film mocks elitist world of the cordon-bleu experience, we couldn’t help but wonder where it might have drawn some real-world inspiration from. The Menu premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022 and is set to release theatrically in November 2022 by Searchlight Pictures.
