Stranger Things becomes first Netflix show to be watched for over 200 million hours

Stranger Things  Season 4 Volume 1 has now broken a Netflix record. With its rising viewership stats, this season of Stranger Things has broken the record for biggest-ever premiere weekend of an English-language series.

The record was previously held by Bridgerton Season 2. The show was watched by 193 million viewers in its first week of release.

Based on Netflix’s Top 10 TV (English) rankings this week, the sci-fi series has been watched for 287 million hours and all 4 seasons of the show are currently being watched by the viewers.

But Season 4 Volume 1 isn’t the only Stranger Things season to break records. Back in October 2019, with 64 million people watching, Stranger Things Season 3 became the most watched season of the show.

The show stars Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven/Jane Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers and David Harbour as Jim Hopper.

Season 4 Volume 1 also became the first season to rank #1 in 83 countries, setting another record.

The show follows the story of a group of kids and adults that battle the supernatural forces of a parallel universe and secret government experiments. The show is based in the 1980s and is set in Indiana, US.

Volume 1 is currently available to watch on Netflix India and Volume 2 will be releasing on July 1.
