Let Fawad Khan stay in India, you can ban the rest of Pakistani artists

Anushka Sharma in the trailer of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil gives voice to probably all us women who have been in love with Fawad Khan ever since he made his Bollywood debut. 2014, Khoobsurat. Time stopped for a lot of Indian women when the film hit the screens.

Fawad Khan was the newest eye-candy in the sea of no-good-looking-male-actors Bollywood. And he was not just your average eye-candy. He could act. The skill most new actors (even the veterans, for that matter) find it difficult to master. Here was a man dressed in crisp black bandhgalas or Savile Row suits who could weaken any woman's knees.

So when something like a "Get out of India in 48 hours or we will push you out" threat is sent to Pakistani actors with Fawad at the top of that list, one can't help but feel wronged. The wrong here happens more at a hormonal level than anything else.

Damn the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Let Fawad stay in India, please. We can do without the other Pakistani artists.

Take Adnan Sami, for example. He sang about loss and heartbreak in "Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao", and requested our government "Mujhko Bhi Toh Lift Karade".

Result? Indian citizenship.

Adnan dropped those kilos, got married for the third time, and made it to our voter list. Fawad is already in good shape. Reason enough to grant him Indian citizenship, no?

The other famous Pakistani artists on the receiving end of the MNS's ire are actors Ali Zafar and Mahira Khan, and singers Atif Aslam, Ghulam Ali and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Now, let's be clear about something. There was a time Atif Aslam entertained us by screaming his lungs out in songs like "Tere Bin" and "Aadat". And then he lost his way with sur-laay in "Hum Kis Gali Ja Rahe Hai". In 2016, no one is even interested in Atif Aslam's songs.

We can always go back to YouTube to re-live the early-2000s. And probably sing along when he goes, "Judaa hoke bhi tu mujh mein kahin baaki hai..."

We've got Ali Zafar, who was THE hot Pakistani actor till, well, Fawad entered the scene. Zafar doesn't even work in that many Hindi movies any longer, is mostly busy with his own music projects and that's about it. Hardly any competition when it comes to Fawad.

As for Mahira Khan, she's yet to make her Bollywood debut. Given the roadblocks in front of Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, Mahira's launch vehicle, we're not really sure how relevant Mahira staying in the country will be. Surely the MNS can suggest a better name to work opposite SRK in Raees?

Oh, and she also had that entire Halloween drama with the Bal Thackeray outfit. M-U-S-T go back to Pakistan.

Ghulam Ali is another artist who has constantly been targeted by the MNS. Every time the man tries to sing in Mumbai, the Marathi Manoos threaten to disrupt his gig. But then we already have all of Ghulam Ali's well-known songs right here on YouTube, no? Why the need to let him stay in India and perform? He can go back to Pakistan and Skype his concerts to us, maybe.

And finally, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. He has given Bollywood some of its best chartbusters, including this year's Jag Ghoomeya from Sultan. FYI, his version of the song is the one that was chosen by the makers of the Salman Khan film over Arijit Singh's. Good voice? Reminds you of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan? Who cares. YouTube.
