ICC T20 World Cup starts on October 16. 16 teams from across the world will compete for the grand title.
Over the years, we have seen some players making the tournaments memorable for their performances. Be it Yuvraj Singh’s six 6s against Stuart Broad in 2007, or Carlos Brathwaite’s last over heroics against England in 2016, T20 World Cup has produced some great moments.
This time also there are several players who have been playing some magnificent cricket and will be interesting to watch out for.
Here are 4 batsemn to watch out for in the tournament:
1.Mohammad Rizwan
Pakistan’s right-handed batter is on a song these days. He was in a very good form against England at home where he made 88 runs twice and in the fifth T20I scored 63 off 46 balls. Rizwan has a strike rate of 128.05 in T20I cricket and his average is 52.34.
Rizwan doesn’t play an aggressive game from the start. He takes time to build his innings and then starts hitting the ball all around the park when he is all set. He has won Pakistan many games by this style. Rizwan and captain Babar Azam can trouble any bowling lineup and in T20 World Cup, all eyes will be on the two, especially on Rizwan.
2. Virat Kohli
It’s a great news for India that the former captain has regained his form. Kohli had been struggling with his bat in last 2-3 years. But, the Delhi batter smashed all criticism in the recent Asia Cup where he scored his 71st half-century against Afghanistan.
In last one month, Kohli has scored one century and three half-centuries in nine games. Talking about the statistics, Kohli has a strike rate of 138.09 in T20I cricket and has an average of 50.84.
Kohli also has a decent record on Australian pitches. In the T20 World Cup, he will be a key player for the team.
3. Mathew Wade
Mathew Wade is an explosive batter. The left-handed batter can single-handedly destroy any bowling lineup. Wade doesn’t wait to settle down and can go on instant smashing mode as soon as he comes in to bat.
In 2022, he has played 12 T20I matches for Australia and his batting strike rate was 150.5. Wade scored 274 runs in 12 matches averaging 68.5. He comes down the order and can be very explosive in the death overs.
4. David Miller
Miller is undoubtedly one of the best T20 batters in international cricket. The left-handed batter is a strong hitter of the ball and has the ability to change the course of the game on his own. His batting philosophy is simple: "If it's in the arc it's out the park."
In the second T20I 0f the three-match series against India on October 3, Miller smashed 106 runs in just 46 balls chasing a 237 runs target. Though South Africa lost the match, Miller's innings was widely lauded by everyone. In T20I cricket, Miller's strike rate is 145.49 in 107 matches. His average is 33.91. He will be a key player for South Africa in this World Cup.
