With just a couple of weeks from its commencement, ICC, on Thursday (September 20) dropped the official Anthem for the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2023. Upon the release of the "Dil Jashn Bole" anthem composed by Pritam, featuring Ranveer Singh, it has generated a flurry of reactions on social media, with opinions ranging from enthusiasm to disappointment, where the latter plays a bigger part.
Ranveer Singh and Pritam, of course, take centre stage, onboard the "One Day Xpress," in the video. But wait, there's more, Dhanashree Verma, YouTubers Flying Beast (aka Gaurav Taneja), gamer (Tanmay Singh) Scout, Viraj Ghelani, Ruhee Dosani, presenter Jatin Sapru and BeYouNick (aka Nikunj Lotia) join the party too.
In the anthem, Ranveer Singh and his merry gang have quite the time, singing, dancing and playing inside the train, and if that's not enough, they're even singing and dancing on top of it, accompanied by two alien-looking mascots. In the name of celebrating the "greatest cricket Jashn ever," there's not a single frame where they bother to grace an actual cricket stadium or feature a real cricketer with their presence.
Let's see how the fans, who had seen better days with 2015's 'Mauka Mauka' and 2011's 'De Ghuma Ke' by Shankar Ehsan Loy, reacted to this anthem's release.
The video quality is certainly somewhat lacking, but might kick in with just the audio, especially with the beats. This might work when it will be played in stadiums over and over again after a wicket falls or when there are some 6s and 4s. Throughout these moments, it leaves many wondering when we'll be able to create a hit as iconic as "Waka Waka, This Time for Africa."
