What was the real reason for the 9-year feud between Salman Khan and Arijit Singh?

Salman Khan has finally ended his nine-year-long feud with Arijit Singh. The actor announced that Arijit Singh has sung a song for his upcoming movie, Tiger 3.

Although Arijit Singh was seen leaving Khan’s house two weeks ago, neither YRF nor Salman Khan made any official announcement, despite rumours hinting at a potential collaboration.

What happened between Salman and Arijit?

• Salman Khan became upset with Arijit Singh during the STAR Guild Awards show in 2014.
• During the event, Arijit, dressed casually in a shirt and flip-flops, went to collect an award for his song "Tum Hi Ho." Salman asked him, "So gaye they" (Did you fall asleep?), to which Arijit replied, “Aap logon ne sula diya” (You people bored me to sleep).
• In response, Salman Khan mockingly stated that it is not his fault if Arijit keeps singing such sleepy songs.
• Arijit brushed it off with a smile and walked away.
• As Arijit was leaving, Salman softly commented that it was disrespectful to attend an award show in slippers.
• A few minutes later, music director Mithoon took the stage and extended the matter, saying, "Tum Hi Ho ne logon ko sulaya nahi, jagaya hai" (The song "Tum Hi Ho" didn’t bore people to sleep; instead, it awakened them).
• This appeared to have further fueled Salman’s anger, leading to an ongoing feud.
• Salman Khan subsequently ignored Arijit Singh and reportedly removed his songs from the movies Kick (2014) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015).
• Additionally, the actor replaced Arijit's song, "Jag Ghoomeya," from the movie Sultan, substituting it with Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

   

Arijit's apology

• After attempting to apologise to Salman for two years, Arijit publicly apologised to Salman Khan in 2016 upon learning that he had been removed as the singer for Salman's movie, Sultan.
• He expressed remorse, acknowledging that his behaviour that night was in poor taste. Although the singer later deleted the Facebook post, it sparked a significant discussion.

   

• Salman Khan, however, did not respond, and Arijit's song was not included in the Sultan album.
• Salman also never addressed the issue publicly, while Arijit remained silent about it for the past six years.
• Despite Sultan being a Yash Raj film and not Salman's own production, he still did not permit Arijit’s song.
• Now, after spending nearly 14 years as a prominent singer in the industry, Arijit finally has a song for Salman Khan.

Arijit’s song, "Leke Prabhu Ka Naam," composed by Pritam, is set to release on October 24, 2023. The movie, Tiger 3, will be released on November 12, 2023.
